Since time immemorial, both as a Kingdom and as an Emirate Kano over shadow's most if not all Kingdoms/Emirates in Hausaland due to it's position as the commercial hub of Hausaland which gives it Economic power over all other Hausa Kingdoms/Emirates. Hence, the King/Emir of Kano has always wielded alot of Political, Economic as well as Military power. Therefore his importance to Kano as well as Hausaland in the oldern days and Northern Nigeria in modern times can not be over emphasised. Some might think the Emir of Kano stripped of all Economic, Political and Military power is insignificant in this modern era, but the truth is that; the Emir still wields a latent but potent power which can make or Mar the affairs of Kano in particular and Northern Nigeria at large, because a stable Kano Emirate breeds a stable Kano and stable Kano breeds a stable Northern Nigeria.

The appointment of His Highness Sanusi 2, as the Emir of Kano by His Excellency the Governor of Kano Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso as the 14th Emir of Kano might signify THE BEGINING OF AN END to the significance and power of the Kano Emirate, due to the political twists that lead to this appointment. Governor Kwankwaso may want to fancy himself as the patriarch of modern Kano (which he deserves), but this singular blunder might hunt and destroy his legacy in the future, because this appointment has already started germinating seeds of discord within the Emirate and the Political Elites of Kano.

HRH Sanusi 2 deserves the throne of Kano, but his appointment will not bring the kind of balance and stability needed to maintain the significance and power of the Kano Emirate, therefore an ill adviced choice. From his appointment to date, I as a citizen of Kano and a son a of the Emirate, observed with dismay the emergence of two deadly political Camps, the first of which is the pro APC/Kwankwaso who vehemently hail and support this appointment, and the pro PDP/Shekarau who vehemently debunk and oppose this appointment. Most might thought this development to be something insignificant to contemplate about, but as a passionate depender and supporter of the Emirate I am afraid this development is signifying that; from now on the stability of the Kano Emirate will depends on the ruling political party in Kano. Alot of people in Kano and beyond rightly or wrongly believed this appointment to be a political manoeuvre by the Governor, so come 2015 if APC did not make it to the  Government House then the throne and the Emirate will be under threat, I am afraid to start hearing words like Dethrone, Depose, Exile and things like creation of another Emirate, upgrading of second class Emirs to first class status, I am afraid of History repeating itself like in the Era of Alhaji Abubakar Rimi were he upgraded Three second class Emirs to first class status only for the decision to be reversed by the newly elected Governor Alhaji Sabo Bakin Zuwo, if not for the Military coup that happened then which ended Democratic Governance the Emirate would have already become a political party Emirate. Alas ! That disaster being averted, Kwankwaso has now  created version 2.0 of it, by appointing a well deserved person but with affiliation to a political party.

Although I respect and admire Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and though I support APC and the Kwankwasiyya Ideology, I strongly do not support this appointment, I would have prepare someone ; without any known political affiliation, someone without political enemies in the Asorock Villa and PDP, someone without corruption charges levelled against him even if they were politically enticed, someone not accused of extremism in his Islamic Ideology even if the accusations were wrong, ascended this precious throne, in order to maintain its Value, honour, significance and power.

Peace be upon those, that follow the right guidance.
