Governor
Kalu: Shun this Oddity, Boycott this Ignoramus
ByIkechukwu Amazu(Bristol,

If
ever there were any doubts that Mr Orji Uzor Kalu, who masquerades as
governor of Abia state, might have been misquoted over his so-called
"apologies"- saga over the Igbo genocide of 1966-1970, his
recent press conference in Lagos airport is as definitive as it can be
that we are indeed dealing with a dreadful crime. Not even the Nigerians
who planned and executed the genocide, except perhaps that ogre-spitting
Igbophobist who occupies Aso Rock, would dare ask the great Igbo people
to “apologise” for their historic defence. Even for the Aso Rock
occupier, his would have been “safely” restricted behind closed
doors and not aired so audaciously to the world at large as Mr Kalu’s
outrage. It
is true that Mr Kalu is a barely educated man or better put, a
maleducated man. That such a staggering ignoramus should be at the helm
of public affairs in a region of Igboland, one of Africa’s most
advanced peoples, is a tragedy of history. But this tragedy is most
transient as any serious historian studying the history of resilient
peoples must contend. Just as Igboland triumphed in halting the genocide
in January 1970, it will triumph completely over the obstacles strewn
along its path of national recovery by the very perpetrators of the
genocide who have ran Nigeria in the past 37 years, as well as their
Igbo collaborators such as Mr Kalu. In
the meantime, the Igbo must respond to this oddity, this ignoramus,
unfailingly. Dr Kalu Kalu Diogu of the World Igbo Congress has already
set the ball rolling with his wide ranging rebuttal to Mr Kalu’s
outrage. We should all follow in varying ways. What Igbo people demand
is Mr Kalu’s unqualified apology to, and atonement for, the memory of
three million Igbo who died during the genocide and today’s 30 million
survivors. For the apology, Mr Kalu should go on Abia radio and
television in Umuahia and make a broadcast to Igbo people worldwide. For
the atonement, Mr Kalu should announce his resignation from the position
of governor of Abia state. The resignation must occur as part of the
broadcast of apology. Until
this oddity, this ignoramus purges himself, the Igbo should subject Mr
Kau to the following sanctions: 1.All
the councils of Igbo public affairs (Ohanaeze, Igbo National Assembly,
Igbo World Congress, Ikenga, etc.) must bar Mr Kalu from all their
proceedings. Otherwise, our people would find it difficult not to
conclude that these bodies are in sympathy with the outrage. 2.All
ministers, special advisers and other appointees in the Abia cabinet who
feel outraged over Mr Kalu’s outrage should resign forthwith.
Otherwise, our people would find it difficult not to conclude that these
officials are in sympathy with the outrage. 3.All
members of Abia assembly and associated bodies should boycott all
proceedings involving Mr Kalu. Otherwise, our people would find it
difficult not to conclude that they are in sympathy with the outrage. 4.All
those who worship in the same shrine or church or mosque or wherever Mr
Kalu spends time worshipping (as all the leading Igbo-haters, including
the chief himself noisily claims) should cease sharing his company at
such occasions. Otherwise, our people would find it difficult not to
conclude that they are in sympathy with the outrage. 5.All
the administrators at the Abia State University who work with Mr Kalu,
who masquerades as Visitor to the university, should hence boycott this
ignoramus’s presence. Otherwise, our people would find it difficult
not to conclude that they are in sympathy with the outrage. 6.Igbo
people should seek and uncover and boycott all goods and services
manufactured, sold or promoted by Mr Kalu’s purported businesses based
in Igboland and elsewhere. Otherwise, our people would find it difficult
not to conclude that they are in sympathy with the outrage… |
