A call to Nigerian Technicians

Mass is the quantity of a substance in a body.  It has always been true that when a mass moves through a distance in an interval of time, work is done and there is the presence of mechanical energy. This mechanical energy output is produced by a mass that moved by itself. Thus any body than can move by itself or reduce its mass due to natural phenomenon, can become a source of energy that if exploited can be transformed into another form of energy especially electrical energy.

It has also always been true that when a magnet is rotated within a coil, electricity is produced. It is a simple fact. We either rotate the coil within a magnetic field or rotate the magnet within the coil. It works my people and it is no news. All we need to do is dimension the magnet and the coil to maximum current that we intend to extract from the generator.

I have seen the coils in various alternators dimensioned to suit different purposes, but Faraday’s law and Ampere’s law remain valid. So Nigerian Engineers, start experimenting because technology is never transferred but stolen and developed by those who are ready to suffer pressing their brains to limit for the love of investigation. With this simple theory, radio mechanics and electronic technicians in Nigeria should coil cable, rotate a magnet within it, rectify the output with diode and condensers and measure the output voltage. Their result will then be passed unto Engineers who will now sit down to do all necessary calculations and return special recommendations back to the technicians. This is the road to self-development and the road to getting solution to our electricity problems.

The way to wind the coils and the form is found in any textbook on motors and generators. There is no other invention to make. No need for the University Education for this. I have seen Argentines apply this simple principle to my surprise. If you perform this experiment, I

Nature has blessed Nigeria enough with the source of energy, all we have to do is sit down to plan and execute good project that will transform these free gift of God Almighty into benefit for our population. Let us know the result you get and it is only then that I can be of help.

Now let me put together the two points raised. When by rotating the magnet within the coil, electricity is produced, go to Awka where God Almighty, put some human beings that can melt and mold iron into any form, let them solder some six blades at sixty degrees distance around the axis of your rotation. Mount the product on a bar, and let a palm wine taper hook it on top of a palm tree in the direction of the wind. The result will be a wind driven generator. If it works, then perfect it, if not, study and correct possible mistake and repeat. It must work. If you fail, draw it out on a paper or photograph it and mail it to me. I will then advice you. At last it will be a Nigerian technology and in your name. In this simple experiment, the wind is composed of the moving mass, which helps rotate the magnet about an axis producing electricity. If Biafra could manufacture weapons to fight Nigeria for thirty mouths decades ago, there is no reason why Nigerians cannot produce their own simple generators.

The next thing to do is to take this machine to Olumirin falls at Erin Jesha, accommodate the blade within the falling waters, you will be surprised, that it works, then let the engineers dimension the machine and we shall have the next set of generators.

I have the description of another small generator that will look like a submarine that will be place inside a small stream, and there shall be light.

Got to the railways, remove the steam engine and adapt it to the turbine, if it works, go to Coal mines in the Eastern Nigeria and set up sets of generation plants.

The generators that you will produce will not be good enough for lighting your homes but if you connect a diode in one terminal to produce half wave rectifier, you can charge stationary batteries like those of cars and trailers. The batteries will accumulate electrical energy that can light 12V fluorescent lamps at village clinics right from the top of the nearest palm tree. It will be enough even to power a laptop computer for a village hospital. It will be enough to power electronic blood pressure meters and equipments used in hospitals for blood analysis.

In twenty five years time, oil will be burnt out in the whole world, if Africa is not prepared, we run the risk of being victims of slave trade again. Let us start to use our brains now and right away contributing positively to the welfare of our people.

Nigerians should move village medical centers near the river or streams, our civil engineers should obstruct the flow of water raising it five meters high, or dig a trench five meters low thereby producing artificial water falls that will be used to generate electricity at least to operate small electro medical equipments. This is the beginning of self-reliance. In five year later we shall be boasting of a better Nigeria.

In my next article, I will be more explicit describing how this simple generator can be used to drive food processing machine, I mean to say small scale industries can be driven with this equivalent of this simple generators, I will also then be ready to tell you where to buy them. If you are from Erin – Oke, invest for your people, because I will show you that with ten thousand dollars, you can change smiles on the face of Erin Jesha with just a simple project.

Nigerians should sit down to plan. Planning is very painful but can be very rewarding. Our parents worked hard in cocoa and rubber farms to give us basic education, let us work harder to give Nigeria a better future. There is no amount of foreign investments that will lift Nigeria up, we Nigeria will have to make the sacrifice to lift up our country. The Urhobo call it “Odavwe” that is “my pain, It is only with “Odavwe” that we can raise Nigeria up from the debris.
