Dear Governor Kalu Orji,

I am writing to you and to the Abia State government to come to the help of the Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community. Ariam Usaka-Ukwu community is one of the communities that make up Ikwuano Local Government of Abia state. This autonomous community is very rich in agricultural products. The community produces Gari, Palm oil, cocoa, palm wine, cola nuts; among others. Ariam Usaka-Ukwu community is one of the richest communities in Ikwuano Local government, and in Abia state as a whole. The community has produced notable Nigerian, such as the late Professor Frank Ugboajah of Ariam Elu-elu.

However, Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community has been neglected by the then successive Imo state governments and now by successive Abia state governments. This community citizens’ pay their taxes to both the state and local government respectively. Therefore, Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community deserves to benefit from the distribution of social amenities by the government of Abia State. Hence, Governor K. Orji, it is time that your government comes to the help of this community.

Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community is along the Umuahia-Ikot ekpene federal road. This community share common boundary with Akwa Ibom state. However, the Akwa Ibom communities sharing borders with Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community have social amenities such as functioning electricity, water, good motorable roads. So why can’t Abia state government live up to its governmental responsibilities?  This autonomous community needs a motorable road. The citizens of this community have no road that links them to the Umuahia-Ikot Ikpene federal road or other communities surrounding them. Hence, the citizens of Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community continue to haul their farm produce to Ariam market, Amizi Market, Ndoro Market by head. Isn’t it shamefully that Abia state government will keep unleashing such suffering to Ariam Usaka-Ukwu community indigenes? Besides, this community needs electricity, needs water, needs hospitals or health clinics. Also, most of the primary schools in this area need renovation. There is no excuse for this continuous neglect.

Dear Governor Orji, there is no excuse for this continue marginalization of Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community in the distribution of infrastructures. I am concerned with the plights of the people of this community because no government seems to care for the people of the communities especially its senior citizens who find it extremely difficult to conduct their normal activities because of there is no road for transportation.  As the governor of Abia state, it is incumbent upon you, Governor Orji, and your administration to provide for all the people of Abia state citizens with essential social amenities. Thus, Governor Kalu Orji, you ought to know the plight of your subjects, and to provide the solutions to them. This autonomous community voted for you and your party during election time, and now it is your turn to say thank to them by providing them with the things that help for a better life. It is part of your election campaign promises. Please fulfill them.

I believe that Abia state government is supposed to serve the entire Abians. If this is true, Governor Kalu Orji, your government is failing the people of Ariam Usaka-Ukwu community. My understanding is that government is meant to solve peoples’ problem. I am not sure that your government is doing that. Governor Orji, how long would Abia state government keep neglecting this autonomous community? Does it mean that the Abia state government does not care for the communities within this autonomous community? Apparently, it does because successive governments have consistently neglected this community.

Above all, Governor Kalu Orji, Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community needs your government attention and assistance in the provision of roads, hospitals, schools, post offices; water; etc. Enough of this neglect. Action speaks louder that words or voice. Governor Kalu Orji, I have been to this community and I must tell you that if I am the governor of Abia state, I have two options; First, to provide the communities with social amenities. Alternatively, I would resign as the governor if my government cannot provide for its peoples. Thus, I demand that your government fulfill its governmental responsibilities to Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community, and other communities in the same situation with Ariam Usaka-Ukwu autonomous community. ACTION IS THE KEY WORD
