Between Sanusi Lamido and Sheik Jafar Adam

Have been a regular visitor to Gamji, always appreciate them and pray they wont ignore my first article.

They said good things hide under difficult situations. I don’t even know if I am responding to Fatima Sulaiman, Sunusi Lamido or Jafar Adam. I tried to be as neutral as I can for the respect I have for both men as well as Fatima’s opinion.

Both Jafar and Sunusi are right and wrong to some extend. Though I don’t exactly know the bone of their contention but rather noticed their first grudge in one of the Jafar tape calling Sunusi an enemy of  Islam and a hypocrite. I was shocked and didn’t like it the way I didn’t like Sunusi’s recent engagement with Jafar on gamji web.

Among people I called heroes are Sunusi and Jafar, I am personally proud of them as a Muslim Northerner and a Nigerian. I felt belittle of both men thought one reason convinced me that both men are worlds apart. Many agreed on that including Fatima.

I am not interesting in either of their family background neither trying to wet any of their blanket nor make either of no consequence. The aim wasn’t to categorize or compare Sunusi and Jafar by knowledge or prestige.

But you cannot change the fact that when you heard Jafar Adam you picture an Islamic preacher who travel all through Nigeria, Africa and Saudi to preach and protect the interest of Islam. I appreciate Jafar worthy crusades, I have a lot of his tapes and don’t miss his Ramadan Tafsir.

When you hears of Sunusi Lamido you picture an economist an Islamic scholar too who writes a lot of articles, travel all over the world for public lectures both on Islam, economy and other social aspect. I keep appreciating him for he touches a lot of issues point blank in the interest of a Nigerian masses like me.

I gain nothing personal by depending any of the two, my interpretation upon them could entirely be wrong as well.

If I were a Jury to decide on them I will decide based on how I understand them as public figures. And the point I am trying to make to Fatima here is that she got Sunusi completely wrong by thinking he’s seeking for recognition. Recognition is given by God and doubt if either Sunusi or Jafar need to struggle for more.

As far as I am concerned the recent trouble that causes all this arguments is the article Sunusi published on Daily trust about a month or so against the Muslim leaders delegation that met Obasanjo about the ‘Marginalization of Muslim’.

Sunusi like many other Nigerian Muslim have all the right to oppose their visit and Jafar absolutely on the offensive as one of the leading delegates. Even though Sunusi didn’t mention any names, I really understand his points for he uses plain and simple English by opposing the visit because he think there are better things to complain about I quote..

“Obasanjo’s Government has failed to deliver on many

of it’s promises. For the North in particular, the problem

of poverty unemployment, collapsing infrastructure and illiteracy”

Sunusi only tried to show them it wouldn’t make a better Government if Muslims are many in the cabinet but the kind of Muslims they are. Beside does their meeting bring any change? No it doesn’t.

This I am not referring to only Jafar or Muslim scholars but all religion leaders must know that we can never be develop if we don’t fight I am a Muslim/Christian, from North of South when it comes to National issues.

I cannot judge either Sunusi or Jafar by their intention. Though identification carries a lot of different meaning it was still unfair of Jafar to called Sunusi and Dangiwa without identity in his trust interview. And if Jafar started at all about identity then is very wrong of Fatima for anybody to either stop them from retaliating. Just because they have a better background (no its wrong).

But will be stupid of Sunusi to have traced Jafar’s background just to mock or compared with his as Fatima portrayed.

Wish I could borrow a leaf by breaking this truce to see my two heroes settle war to peace. To burry the hatchet rather than ending up chasing the shadow. As good Muslims and good people. Exchanging articles or interviews wouldn’t make them better but worst. If they can’t settle their dispute they should keep mute for only Allah knows the best among us all.
