Every real life phenomenon, have its defining moment, it always occurs as a surprise, it buzz-surfaced as a bombshell to the actor in the event and those that have faith upon it. My piece, ‘Marwa’s Declaration:  A Face In A Mask’ published on several websites and some dailies, some couple of months ago, spawn a lot of rejoinders within the Marwa supporters guild, several reactions were posted to my inbox, then virtually all of them appeared disgusting when reading, recent happenings or in a nutshell the latest political suicide committed by General Marwa, compels me to go back to my e-mail trash; to re-read all of them, one that really fascinated me was written by someone I knew since my early days in the university ; the subject of his mail was ‘ Time Will Proof  You Wrong’ and the body of the letter reads:

Mallam Zayyad, you said in your article “ The so called Marwa’s declaration for the PDP is nothing else but a calculated track to achieved a political ambition of someone else rather than that of Marwa, and is squarely centered on the presidency, comes 2007” Zayyad, you have completely derailed from the wisdom underlying marwa’s candidature, his declaration for the PDP is genuine and his quest to be the president of Nigeria is not face in a mask, rather a hope for us, nevertheless time will proof this to us.

There is a popular saying in Hausa: Rana Bata Kyarya, Sai Dai Uwar Diya Taji Kunya (time never lies), today Gen. Marwa have   proven to those who support his presidential escapade with democratic heart, and those that suspects his entry into the presidential race as a spoiler game, that his mission is really a face in a mask, it is not as it is being portrait to the world, rather it contains what an average Nigerian calls the hidden agenda, it is a put-up job that was planned to hit a certain target, which the planners failed to read the emerging political picture.

Imagine a presidential candidate, accusing someone of disloyalty, for truthfully challenging unconstitutional maneuvers to lengthen a political mandate, and exercising his fundamental right of freedom of speech.  Marwa’s press conference was a defining moment for true Nigerians to see his real picture as a counterfeit presidential candidate, employed to swindle Nigerians; the message that many of us are saying that Marwa is a puppet assigned to do a certain job, had been delivered to Nigerian, his recent press conference designed by his puppeteers to send a certain contrived message to the innocent society, did the opposite, it unveil to the Nigerian people the real motive behind his so called presidential candidature; and formal declaration of Marwa’s members hip of the ‘exalted club’ PWAN ( People Working Against Nigeria); though one expects nothing more from a person that has participated in all military coups in Nigeria for the past 20 years, and have the history of abandoning his mentors when they are no more in power; a prominent IBB boy, then Abacha , now Obasanjo; his so called good work in Lagos state was made possible by General Abacha, but body Marwa does even want to be associate with the late General.

The argument here is, if Gen. Marwa is genuinely in pursuance of a mandate to lead the Nigerian state, he would have been among those that are critical of the attempt by those misleading president Obasanjo to temper with the Nigerian constitution of which he has swore to defend and pay allegiance to all it provisions.

Marwa is telling Nigerians that vice president Atiku has committed a crime to the extend of treachery, by saying the tenure of present administration ends by 2007, and the refusal of the vice president to took a Cults-like oath for the sake of someone’s dreams; hear him "I speak of no other issue than the inexplicable, illogical and bizarre pronouncements and posturing of the nation’s Vice President of recent. With all sense of responsibility, I am pained to declare that the conduct and behaviour of the nation’s number two citizen in recent times as exemplified in his speech at The Week News Magazine Awards is most unbecoming and way out of line”. While responsible Nigerians are extolling Atiku’s firm committed to entrenchment of democracy and rule of law, Marwa is condemning it. The underlying point here is, suppose we accept Marwa’s point of view, then which presidential slot is he seeking to occupy? Certainly not that of Nigeria and of course not in 2007, because he has informed the world, he is for third term, though some people are of the view, Marwa’s assertions against the vice president, was a calculated attempt at scoring a political point by impressing president Obasanjo; in return president Obasanjo would hand over the presidency to Marwa, in 2007 from a platter of silver; what colossal blunder!

Never in the history of Nigeria that any potential presidential aspirant was ever doubted on the genuineness   of his candidature from the start, except Marwa, this was largely due to the apparent motive behind the out of the blue ‘ Marwa for president’, which is entirely embedded within three factors; first to try to politically intimidate vice president Atiku Abubakar; the designers thought Marwa could accomplish the job, being from the same home state with Atiku; which Marwa failed to, because he lacks the basic grass root support even in Michika, his local government talkless  of Adamawa state,  secondly  to create divisi on within the Adamawa political system which  vice president Atiku effectively controls; forgetting that Atiku has a strong grass root connections and broad spread  political tentacles nationwide , thirdly, Marwa  is being planted to play the spoiler game; which the man lacks the basic  impetus  to do so; that is why the journey started in confusion and it is ending in confusion, his  presidential escapade have reached the end of the road, Marwa has three options: to start the hopeless return journey back to no where; or to embark on the forlorn ‘siddon look’ at the end of the road or seek the keys to the doors of the next journey from Nigerians, by explaining to us which is a treachery and treason acts: the refusal to took a cult-like oath and insisting  on constitutional provisions apropos to the tenure  of the present administration, or   participation in a dictatorial regimes  which submerged pro-democratic groups, subjected Nigerians to hardship, kills innocent people and annulled the most freest election in the history of Nigeria ; being part of the  illegal imprisonment of Obasanjo, Yar’adua and others,  which led to the death of Gen. Yar’adua, or  his recent plain side taken to a project that Nigerians are utterly against, General Marwa Nigerians need answers.
