CNPP and PDP/MDD, between Democrats and Kleptocrats

An interesting scenario is evolving in the Nigerian political environment with the split in the PDP and the expected eventual self destruction of the organisation as a political party. However, Nigerians should be very careful of the splinter group of the PDP namely the MDD, whose members are dreaming to register it as a political party.

The current PDP membership is made up of corrupt and cruel retired military officers like OBJ, IBB, Danjuma and their unrepentant sycophants like Arthur Nzeribe, Tony Anenih, Jerry Gana, Ibrahim Mantu, Abubakar Adamu, and a host of their deadly foot soldiers scattered here and there all over the country. Their source of power is unlimited, unaccounted tax payers money as well as coercive power of the state security agents made available to them by the illegal government of Obasanjo. The reality of the situation is that those sycophants running around the retired military clique are as bad as their brethren in the MDD but are not as hypocritical because they have never hidden their ideology of sycophancy. They are expected to go away with Obasanjo when he retires to Ota farm or is out power in one way or the other come May 2007.Over the years they have shown a cunning ability to resurface and misguide leaders with already bad intentions. On the other hand the MDD is made of corrupt and hypocritical politicians who are infact the most dangerous political group in Nigeria today. Among this group are politicians like Lawal Kaita, Sule Lamido, Audu Ogbe,Solomon Lar, Dariye, Alaymeisigha etc. This group has been destroying the socioeconomic and political life of Nigeria like cancer for over a decade. Their common mode of operation is to provide political backing for dictators (IBB, Abatcha and OBJ) with false propaganda, rigging of elections as well moralising their evil agendas to get in to government positions or patronage. Some of them in addition have specific modes of operation for e.g., Alameyseigha of Rivers state funds the Ijaw militia to commit arson and killings using sentiments about resource control while stealing away his state’s “resource allocation” to his bank accounts overseas. To Alameysigha resource control meant resource stealing for personal welfare. No wonder the Niger Delta remained underdeveloped despite huge amounts of money allocated since the days of  OMPADEC.  Dariye on the other hand planned and executed genocides in Plateau state by inflaming ethnic and religious sentiments with the full support of Solomon Lar, then went overseas like his counterpart from Bayelsa to deposit his loot and was caught up there. It is very disgusting to hear Dariye talking about his god did this or that to save him when everyone knows that he is a bloody corrupt man whose hands are soiled by thousands of people killed, while living victims are suffering in refugee camps in neighbouring states. This man should have been impeached if not for the blind sentiments of Plateau state house of Assembly. Nigerians unfortunately have to endure the shame of having two declared run away thieves (disguised as ugly women when jumping bail in London!) as Governors, just because of an unnecessary immunity clause in our constitution which should be expunged without delay to allow the law to take its cause. The state house of assembly members in Bayelsa State should be commended and supported for the bold move they have taken so far and their counterparts in Plateau state should still be encouraged to do the same.

Solomon Lar in one of his drunken rudeness called for arrest of Buhari just because the latter condemned the rigging of elections perpetrated by Lar and his allies in 2003. How can anyone in his right senses sympathise with the likes of Lar and Atiku who masterminded the rigging of elections that brought this illegal government to power when they are being humiliated. It is nemesis catching up with them.

The reality of the situation is that most of the politicians in the MDD as well as their retired military/ civilian counterparts in the PDP are unprincipled people who have no idea of governance, honesty and responsibility. They are just guided by the primitive instincts of their stomachs, “otherwise called politics of the stomach”. So the recent condemnation of Ibrahim Mantu by Solomon Lar is just a matter of the pot calling kettle black. Among the disgruntled politicians in the MDD, Audu Ogbe might be forgiven for at least calling on OBJ to restrain Uba and Ngige from causing havoc in Anambra. However to be taken seriously he has to come out, confess about election rigging and apologise to Nigerians for heading a party that rigged elections in 2003, there by ushering an illegal government that has been tormenting Nigerians. Otherwise he would still be lumped among the hypocritical bunch of disgruntled politicians.

The emergence of pressure groups like the MDR is a right step in the right direction otherwise the crooks in the PDP/MDD would take Nigerians for a ride again making us losers and infact victims of their greed inspired infighting.

A time for reckoning is with us in the current scenario. Those politicians in the PDP/MDD who want to be taken seriously should repent, abandon the kleptocratic PDP/MDD and join genuine democratic political parties in the CNPP. Politicians with some measure of acceptance like Abubakar Rimi, Alex Ekuwme, Bugaje, Jibril Aminu  as well as polished retired military officers like Yohanna Madaki and Buba Marwa  who strayed in to the wrong political party should retraced their foot steps, bury the dying PDP and join parties in the CNPP.

In conclusion, Nigerians should not make the mistake of sympathising with the MDD, instead we should allow dog to eat dog for future peace and prosperity our nation.

Yours faithfully,
