Political Tussles and Youths in Nigeria

Niger delta region in particular Bayelsa state, is roaring on fire and brim stone since the arrival of their Governor from London. Chief D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha who was purportedly held in custody by Britain’s security operatives and currently answering a court case of money laundry, before its surprise return from Britain. There have been series of reports on how Alarms came into Nigeria, is home country. When confronted he said, “ I did not know how I came into Nigeria”. That is a fabulous statement; only God knows the true story and the planners of his return. However this article is not met to contest Alams coming home or how he manages to return is left for critics and our political actors to proof. The writer of this article is concern about the involvement of hired youths in the circumstances as a tool for continuous confrontation either for or against and also political corruption in the Nigerian settings.

The way and manner our political actors are piloting the affairs of the nation is a disdain, a threat to our nascent democracy. In most cases one would wonder why these entire political contest against each other, why they confuse the masses with series of publication garnished with lies, modified in their own interest. Everybody seems to be blameless, giving reasons for their action, why the master minders of the scenario hides behind the scene and use their political tools to unleash terror on their acclaimed enemies. The political inconsistency in the nation is creating the scenario of doubt in the minds of the ‘common man’, the style in wish our political figures are operating in the present democratic setting is questionable, they make fools of the masses most especially when their stalwart as lost favour in their sight, their by creating an atmosphere of kiosk.

Any political analyst who as followed the tide of our polity since the inception of the nascent democracy from 1999, will agree with the writer, that the sledge harmer are always on those who have falling short of Abuja’s influence. This is the usually PDP strategy of divide and rule syndrome. The most annoying thing is that, when they decide to lay siege against any earring political office holder they must have their way either by hook or crook. The case of Anambra state is one good example with the fall out of Governor Chris Ngige and its estranged political Godfather Chris Uba who as been readmitted, he has given a double promotion of caucus leader of the zone and placed on the Board of Trustees of the Party at the national level. What are the yardstick for its readmission and the all exulted position of such caliber? Is he not the one that confessed rigging the election in favour of Dr. Chris Ngige in Anambra State? These are food for thought, Nigerians should have a focus, we should not be distracted by mere political tussles, we should be firm like Anambarians who stood behind their performing Governor with a total disdain of share the money syndrome.

Its is a fact that, there are other Governors who are not performing, and are not using their monthly allocation judiciously. They have in one way or the other starch away their state money, while does in appointment have stolen their ministry money yet they are still in Government, needless to mention them, we all know them but pretend not to know them, God will surely help the poor in the Nigerian system to gain justice at all times. These set of looters are living a flamboyant life without EFCC going after them. As a Nigerian, I will advise the chairman of EFCC to probe all political office holders in the country are rubbish them of their ill acquired wealth in their position. The anti corruption crusade is something every Nigerian is pleased with, but should not be met to intimidate some group of people rather, it need to be holistic in order for all to have confidence in the present fight to reed Nigeria of bad eggs. The crusade ought to be done with open heart devoid of political in castration and loyalty syndrome, we believe in anti-corruption crusade, but it should not be selective, we are all Nigerian and above all, we are humans and need to be treated has such, some person’s should not been seen as above the law while others are used as an experimental tools in other to gain credibility.

EFCC as a body is entrust to fight against corrupt acts in Nigeria, is suppose to wade into the speculation of bribery and corruption in the National Assembly as it affects the third term agitation by mischief makers. Some time ago, there was a publication of inceptives worth about 70 million Naira giving to each Senator in other to facilitate the third term scam; In whatever manner in wish they want to achieve the third term strategy it is dubious and questionable, the 1999 constitution is clear on the tenure of office of any elected political office holder, I see no reason, why the Abacha syndrome is eating deep in the mind of political office holder wanting to stay in office longer than necessary. Power, they say is the for runner to absolute madness, which means power intoxicates those that are in Authority thereby destroying their sense of reasoning.

The concept of corruption in our contemporary society is limited to financial miss-appropriation, which is not true. Corruption in my opinion is anything that contravene the constitutional obligation, right or something that goes against the wish of the people, that as it may, I would say the third term phenomenon proposed by the senate house committee is a corrupt act that is induced either by political appointment or financial gains, in the light of the forgoing, EFCC need to investigate those concern and communicate to Nigerians on the outcome of their investigations.

MILITANT YOUTHS

Bayelsa state is currently having its share of political youth restiveness occasioned by the return of their state Governor D.S.P. Alams, who was allegedly held for money laundering in London.

The youths who had caused this destruction in the state are paid to do so either by D.S.P. camp or his political opponent. The current strive by D.S.P. Alams to have a grip of the state since its return and it’s political opponent are syndicates who want to ruin the future of youths in the state. In their usual manner they hire youths to cause social unrest, in order for them to climb the ladder of greatness thereby endangering the life of thousands of Jobless youths; these youths are easily manipulated due to the factor of hunger and starvation that as claim the lives of many Nigerians in recent times. These are the same set of political actors who use and dump their political machinery in time of glory, now replaying themselves as benevolent citizens out to correct the hills of the society. Perhaps those hungry youths that are used to perpetuate their evil act will be continually manipulated, why their colleagues who are not brave enough dies in their mission before they will learn there lessons. It has come to a time where the timid youths go about their normal duties and stop acting as a tools to some heartless politicians who continually explore the political terrine, make use of undue advantage to attain power at all cost. Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) should educate its youths not to enslave themselves, by chanting a course that is not favorable to their corporate existence. They need to think of their precious lives and that of law-abiding citizens in Bayelsa State instead of heightening the tension in the area. The political big wings go about their normal business of witch hunting each other, if possible kill themselves, which is their usual carnival and they gain pleasure in doing just that; but God will judge them one after the other.

As youths, we need not allow the political class to make use of undue advantage over us, occasioned by poverty and greed as a result of Joblessness, economic and social mal- administration. It is a glaring fact that, our political class as failed us, it be hurt Nigerians to look up to God and not down to man, He has made man to climb not to grovel, hence our problems is not the problem, but our attitude toward the problem; there is know problem that is greater than the greatest thought and everything is possible to them that believe. The time has come to liberate our youths and reposition them for the future with productive insights.
