The current preoccupation of Obasanjo is to find a way of destroying the constitution to allow him to get a third term and subsequently life president a la` Kamuzu Banda, Mobutu Seseko and Gnassigbe Eyadema. Should he succeed in this venture then Gbenga his son would be in line just like Faure Eyadema. The aim is to selfishly and illegally continue to enjoy his ill gotten wealth and trappings of power. In the process he will also be protecting himself from prosecution relating to crimes against humanity.

The groups behind this evil plot are either working openly or underground. The most obvious group is the Mantu led committee on constitutional amendment. They are a group of parliamentarians whose philosophy in life is politics of the stomach. The most astonishing aspect of the committee is that a former university lecturer Omar Hambagda who used to make a lot of noise about liberation of his community has now betrayed his community for pecuniary advantages. However history would remember Senator Ahmed Aruwa for refusing to endorse the illegal alteration of constitution.

The second group is made up of the OBJ boys like Arthur Nzeribe, Sule Lamido, Tony Anenih, Ojo Madueke, John Odey, Ahmadu Ali, Chris Uba and Jerry Gana. Those are professional sycophants and their modus operandi revolves around lies, blackmail and thuggery. One characteristic of the above two groups that made them distinct from the remaining groups is that they are not hypocritical in their ways. They never hide nor tried to moralise their evil ways.

The third group is made up of the thirty state governors who endorsed the third term looting. They did it out of fear of arrest by EFCC, selfish desire to extend their tenure of looting or else opportunity to rig elections for second term of looting. Most of them got elected by rigging and all of them are looters of their respective treasuries. They have no political philosophy and are ignorant of due process of governance, respect for constitution and rule of law. Their modus operandi is akin to armed robbery, the only difference is that armed robbers use guns while they use their pens. They deserved to be pelted with rotten tomatoes and eggs to show how decadent and rotten they are where ever they appear! Ali Sherrif of Borno is a semi illiterate contractor who cannot differentiate between Party Politics & Governance issues vis a vis the crumps Obasanjo gives to him and his Father. Aliero of Kebbi and Baffarawa of Sokoto are corrupt, semi illiterate fuel smugglers. Dariye is a hardened criminal who stole away ecological funds earmarked for his state and incited genocides. Saminu Turaki of Jigawa and Bukar Ibrahim of Yobe are also big candidates for EFCC interrogation due to their recklessness with the ecological funds and finances of their respective states. The remaining Northern Governors like Makarfi of Kaduna, Mu’azu of Bauchi and Adamu of Nasarawa are waiting like vultures for Atiku to be removed so that one of them can get his sit. In addition they have one crime or the other to hide from EFCC.

The Governors in the Eastern part of the country who endorsed the third term looting are no more than Chris Uba’s appointees who swore by the false deities to share the loot with him. They are in reality savage and primitive minds ruling enlightened societies.

In the Western part of the country vibrant politics was extinguished with the assassination of Bola Ige thanks to hypocrisy and collusion of Afenifere leadership. People are therefore not surprised by their endorsement of the third term looting.

The remaining six governors who refuse to endorse the evil plot should be commended for their courage.

The fourth group is mainly made up of the top echelon of the nation’s security forces that emerged to protect the status quo thanks to Obasanjo’s nepotism. Their modus operandi is to harass and intimidate potential aspirants by threats and blackmail. It is disgusting to read in the dailies the Chief of Air Staff talking about god doing one favour or the other during the recent promotion of Air force officers akin to Obasanjo’s hypocrisy of calling god’s name even while committing evil. It is in the same institution that retired men are forced to beg while waiting for their entitlements and some even died in the process.

The fifth group is CAN leadership especially the Northern branch. CAN as a group has kept mute silence about the third term agenda which is a tactic support for the third term looting. In 2003 CAN also supported election rigging by Obasanjo.

CAN leadership is unfortunately hijacked by dangerous retired military officers like General Theophilus Danjuma as well decadent politicians like Solomon Lar and Joshua Dariye. Apart from mute silence, CAN leadership also used diversionary tactics at a time when pressure is mounted on Obasanjo to honour the constitution of the country, which he had sworn by the bible to protect. The diversionary tactics are to reduce pressure on Obasanjo, divide and de focus the political direction of the opposition so as to justify the falsehood they have been whispering to the folk that Obasanjo is the messiah for Nigeria. However individual CAN members like Reverend Kukah and Olaniyekan deserved commendation for coming out clearly to condemn the planned third term looting agenda.

The sixth group is made up of Yoruba writers like Paul Adujie, Reuben Abati, Mobolaji Aluko and others. Paul Adujie wants us to bury our heads in the sand like the ostrich and believe that Obasanjo would hand over despite the overwhelming evidence that he is trying hard to extend his looting tenure. While Reuben Abati and his likes write lackadaisically about the third term looting agenda as if it is a comedy. Surprisingly Mobolaji Aluko who used to be objective compared to the others, in his recent article kept on wandering why politicians should be arguing about power rotation while we have plane crashes too often. This is just beating about the bush by an intellectual who is suppose to know more than all of us that Obasanjo is responsible for hitting the polity that lead to arguments about rotation of power, because he wants to extend his looting tenure. He should have called on Obasanjo to resign concerning the plane crashes, because he failed in his responsibility to protect innocent passengers through corruption and nepotism. The plane crashes are manifestation of total system failure in the country due to inept leadership of Obasanjo.

These write ups are all measures to help in defocusing and dissipating pressure on Obasanjo. Those writers are in a dilemma in that they knew their boda had failed woefully and therefore is supposed to go by 2007 yet they have an imaginary fear about the absolute monopoly of the nation’s wealth which Obasanjo has diverted to their region, if he is out of power.

In conclusion this group of Nigerian elite as well as their leader (Obasanjo) are poor students of history, they easily forgot how Babangida and Abacha tried to perpetuate their rule but they had to leave the scene in one way or the other. Additionally as long as the trio of Obasanjo, Babangida and Danjuma  are not tried for crimes against humanity then genuine democratic rule is in danger

Yours faithfully,
