CNN and Nigerian Governors - Insanity laughs!

Permit me to use this forum to ask the governors of Zamfara, Delta and Enugu what they intend to achieve by advertising their states on CNN.  Having watched in pure pain, the hideous advertisments screened, I simply want to know the objective of the advertisements.

Zamfara advertises its progressiveness(!!!) whilst meting out death sentences for female adulterers only ( we ALL know that men NEVER commit adultey and women do it all alone!!!); Delta parades a string on chiefs who have difficulty  reading from the teleprompter and who talk of peace in the face of the exact opposite, and the Enugu governor who is supposed to have been a doctor in the USA, speaks so terribly that I am sure no patient in the USA put their lives in his hands for a minute.

The whole world  laughs at the lies screened while CNN sings to the bank f or each 30 second segment costing over $120,000 a pop! Meanwhile, roads in each state have become gullies, the police and the armed robbers cooperate and steady power and water are remembered by only those who were alive under the colonial masters!

In Delta, militants are killing soldiers (the thought is even shameful) and kidnapping expatriates (peace unlimited!).  Imagine how Cameroun views the Nigerian Military when a rag-tag militia can eliminate 14 soldiers in one attack!

In Enugu, there exists no rail line as shown on CNN and the governor's sister is the sole contractor for 'government' projects which in reality belong to the governor himself!  The aerial shots of cardboard models on CNN are pathetic!  The governor's paranoid vendetta against anyone who is rumoured not to like him or anyone who he perceives as having more power than him is becoming legend.  It is a know n fact that most Okada drivers and casual workers are on his payroll to report conversation with those they interact with. The governor's current fallout with his chief assasin might yet result in the deliverance of Enugu State if they do the state the favour of eliminating themselves.

In Zamfara, non indegines and non-moslems live in daily fear of crossing any one of the many unknown islamic laws which legally should not apply to them and even moslem women cannot exercise their God given right to travel freely unless it is in female only vehicles!  What progress, indeed!  Meanwhile, the governor that introduced Sharia has visited bars and clubs in Sin City, S. Africa and enjoyed the very things he has banned in his state. If he has a problem with this statement, he should remember that the rest of the world install CCTV routinely and that here in S.A. the CCTV footage of his visits are still in existence.   The girls enterta ining him had even less clothes than the most scantily clad 'Miss World' contestant would ever dream of.

May I appeal to these three governors and any others about to join the bandwagon to cease and desist.  Instead of wasting money on self-glorification under the guise of wooing foreign investors, they should use the money to provide the most basic of needs - clean water for their citizens.  No foreign  investor in their right mind will come to your states to do business.  The comments of the EU visitors to Enugu should be seen in context. Enugu is apparently called 'the best governed state in Nigeria'.  All well and good. But if you read it properly, you would understand that it is akin to saying that in a sewer with many chambers, the chamber called Enugu has less sewage than the other chambers.  It is still not a desirable place to visit!  Besides all this, just H OW would any investor reach the said states after landing in Lagos or Abuja?  By Sosoliso, Chanchangi or Bellview?  One shudders at the mere thought.

I almost forgot:  The President has also joined the fray, waving a white hanky at a dancing creature at the end of his own segment.  Till today, I do not understand what he is trying to tell the world in that advertisment. It says a lot about the quality of the presidential advisers that would permit him to do this.

Also, there must be something about dancing women/men/creatures that appeal to Nigerians.  They feature in ALL the Nigerian adverts placed on CNN!

NIgeria needs to understand that when the conditions are condusive, neither the President nor any governor will need to advertise for investors - they will be queuing at Nigerian Embassies for visa s the way Nigerians queue at their embassies.

To paraphrase a line from the song "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, Insanity is laughing as Nigeria cracks from the pressure of its own corruption.  I truly believe that under the pressure of illegal loot, unbridled power and the delusions that follow, these governors and many others too numerous to mention, have finally cracked.  When Insanity (noun) laughs at someone, you KNOW that all hope is truly lost because by that stage, a naked madman exhibits more understanding than the person in question.  I extend my sincerest condolences to the wives of these megalomaniacs, their states and to Nigeria as a whole.

Ps.  Those who wish to stay in office longer than the original term they signed up for should visit the psychiatric ward to gain wisdom - sooner or later, you must vacate that seat, be it by election, military takeover, revolution or in a coffin.  And better than that, you cannot take a penny with you!  As Eccleciastes says, all your labour for which you killed, maimed, stole and defrauded, will be left for someone else (whose character you do not know) to enjoy!  Will it all be worth even a minute in hell? God help Nigeria.
