Please Give Governor Goje A Chance By Musa Kalamullah
I felt it necessary to respond to a piece written by one MUHAMMAD AUWAL SAIFULLAH as published in Daily Trust of Tuesday, January 24th, 2006, in which the self-acclaimed writer raised a series of un-resolved issues, by castigating some elders of the state, even though in his capacity as a political prostitute he merely acted on the script of his masters, who wrote the piece, edited it either at Kashere or at the Government house in Gombe, for him to collect some peanut and allow his name to appear. No problem, history would judge him sooner than latter.
It is not of my interest to join issues with Mr. Saifullah, but rather, I want to engage the masquerade and expose his hidden identity for everybody to see and arrive at conclusive judgement.
Everybody that happened to be in Gombe when the State was created in 1996, knew quite alright, the level of sacrifice made by the likes of Alh. Abubakar Habu Hashidu, Amb. Ibrahim Yerima Abdullahi, Senator Haruna Garba, Senator Saidu Umar Kumo, Late Alh. AbdulKadir Baba Manu, Late Alh. Dahiru Muhammad Deba, to ment ion but a few. These people worked tirelessly, through thick and thin, for the actualisation of Gombe State. Regrettably, when the state was created at last, the pioneer Military Administrator, Group Captain Joe I. Orji, started with a sound note, but the performance of successive administrations thereafter is not impressive, which led the public to yearn for positive change or complete rebirth of Hashidu- led administration, unfortunately the 2003 mischievious 419 elections, marred by so much irregularities, with the intervention of the almighty Atiku Abubakar, when the going was good, brought a thug as a Chief Security Officer of a State “AN BAWA KURA AJIYAN NAMA”.
When Governor Muhammad Danjuma Goje was ushered to over run the affairs of the State things begin to change in terms of physical development, infrastructure, provision of portable drinking water (by completing the Gigantic Gombe Regional Water Supply), the project initiated and contract awarded by Hashidu Administration. Along the line, these projects stops half way. The rest is history.
By calculation the salaries and Over Head cost, including Capital Expenditure etc, the present administration did not spend more than 20 Billion Naira, where is the rest of the money?.
The Governor was known in buying houses from his kinsmen including his brother, an ex-convict, who build a house at GSADP Quarters, the Goje’s so called new GRA, the house initially constructed at the cost of 13 Million Naira in 2004, was over valued to a tune of 120 Million Naira, and bought over by the government in 2005.
However, the issue of the Gombe Water Flood Disaster that occurred on 20th August, 2004 is still fresh in our memory, we still recall vividly how donations were siphoned by individuals in the good books of the government, leaving the affected victims un-attended in hunger and starvation.
In my capacity as private and independent citizen of Nigeria, and a bonafide indigene of the State, I must be fair to all concern, as I am neither a politician nor a card carrying member of any political party, but the writer in question had made some assertion on some politicians, though, without mentioning a name, but let the face come out from the mask of the masquerade, then we would called spade a spade. However, “LABARIN GIZO BAYA WUCE KOKI” the whole attack is on the personalities of Col. Musa Muhammad (Rtd), a current serving Minister, Mal. Murtala Aliyu, a former Minister and a successful Consultant, Farouk Bamusa a reputable business tycoon, and former Governor Abubakar Habu Hashidu. They must be made to know that these gentlemen and their likes are just exercising their civil rights in more civilise manner, I believe the writer wants everybody to be very submissive to Goje and his cohorts without any meaning or reasoning, something that cannot be possible at this 21st century.
Saifullah, must understand that, “TSIYA DA KWANCIYAR HANKALI, YAFI ARZIKI DA TASHIN HANKALI”, the menace of political thugs “YAN KALARE” hundred percent founded and funded by Governor Goje himself, and his protégé, Abubakar Mu’azu, the PDP State Youth Leader, these thugs, “YAN KALARE” who doubled as Goje’s foot soldiers creates a serious havoc to the life and properties of every body in the State, they carried out their evil act in broad day light at will, recently on 20th January, 2006, the “YAN KALARE” helmsman man Uban Bala supervised the burning of an innocent man’s house to ashes at Dawaki Quarters Gombe, his two kids, a toddler and three months old baby were killed, the former instantly and latter some few hours later at hospital, is this the type of chance Gombe people should give to Goje?.
Furthermore, if Auwal can recall vividly, there was an attempt to assassinate the serving minister by Goje’s thugs, namely- Adamu Yusuf (Cooler), Adamu P.A., Haruna Turaki (Personal Assistant Protocol to Governor Goje), Haruna Shuaibu (Jonga), Baba Sani (Sakali), Uban Bala (Yellow), Alh. Musa Mai Maganin Gargajiya (Musa Goje), Bappah Kawuwa (B. Parlour) and Uzairu (Rocky) at Nafada, during the wedding ceremony at Emir of Nafada, Alh. Dadum Hamza’s Palace, yet no arrest was made, the S.S.S and the Police Command are his errand boys, every one in Gombe knows that, this is an undisputable fact. The incident at Nafada was a clog in the wheels of democracy and must be condemned in totality.
The dogmatic followership Goje wanted to command, so that people would follow him in dogma, would not be possible, our polity does not require dogmatism. The Holy Bible and the Holy Qur’an which the writer Auwalu Yusuf (His Correct name) misquoted out of context, teaches much to accept absolutely in dogm a, and no one else, Goje betrayed and double crossed Ibrahim Hassan former Minister in the 2nd Republic, Atiku Abubakar (Vice President), I am sure he will even betray his God, if he has his way!
The most disheartening irony is that our masqueraded writer, who was very visibly seeking to reap from Goje’s jamboree, was one of the strongest proponents and instigators of the Gombe State governor. We have witnessed his verbal rain of abuses on the governor on the day of the gubernatorial elections. I wonder when he has changed into a chameleon. Again, he seem to have forgotten that governor Goje’s elder brother has once discouraged the people of Gombe State from electing his brother whom he described as a thug and a street urchin. Just after Goje was dismissed from the post of a State Minister, the President publically denounced Goje a thief and miscreant. These events happened in isolated times, but they have all defected the kind of governor we have. I wonder how our masqueraded writer can explain these within the context of his sycophancy.
The likes of Saifullah, who decamped from ANPP to the ruling PDP in the State, should learn manners, and look for a job rather than to become a praise singers, so that their generation yet unborn would be proud of them, otherwise, they would be turned to a wasted generation by a greedy politicians, and also remember that, we will resist any attempt by any body to undermined our freedom by enslaving us in the name of chance, No absolutely No, chance is for everybody.
