I love dogs not as a delicacy but as a pet animal, hence, my decision to title this article with the above heading.  In a “militocracy” sorry democracy like ours, and in a saturated world like ours, where hunger and economic hardship dictate our mood, wouldn’t it be very fascinating if the major pl ayers act a mild drama to relive us of the untold hardship bequeathed upon us? Or of what crime is it, if dog decide to leave her nutritional food for another colleague of hers?

The Nigeria public is a gullible people, easily deceived by her leaders, they believed all their policies but its impact on them is often than not negative, the public believed every word of her leaders, but the words of our leaders are as frivolous as noise, their inaction is often understood by their action.  In every statement they denied, there exist a confirmation in their denial, every unspoken word is a confirmation of what the people belief.

All is now set for a national drama to be titled “Power, Disloyalty and Consequences”, which will be release before the magical year 2007, the hungry members of the public are no doubt the spectators of this epic drama, the Executive Director of this national movie is an high chief from Edo State, with a Co-Director from Kogi State, the leading characters includes the “have” and the “have more”, the power brokers, the political class and the elites.  Ostensibly, the lead actor or the protagonist is no mean person than the landlord of Aso Rock, while his “disloyal” deputy and the oppressed people of Nigerians will act as th e antagonist.

The setting of this national movie is in a village called wadata plaza under one big umbrella, though now punctured, the plot of this national movie pre-supposes that a weak spectator will be knocked down, thus, it promises to be explosive and exciting to a selected few who can flex muscles in the political ring, those without political rascality and mentality who will venture into this all important battle like lady Macbeth, said “will di e lonely, sad, miserable and naturally deserted”.

The Oyo political lord has been conscripted into this all important mafia film; he is a war lord that need one third of every allocation to the state from the federal government to enable him oil his arsenal of war. “Leaders” with brave minds are battle ready for the showdown, Economic and Financial Crime Control. EFCC is no doubt a major character, interestingly, Political Leaders must now turn a blind eye to their responsibilities and strive to satisfy the desire of one man if they must be reckoned with. Thus abandoning good governance for personal gain will be tolerated so long their loyalty is not in doubt, however any questionable loyalty must not be welcome and must therefore be dealt with, and this fact can further be bolstered by the recent happening in Bayelsa State and Plateau State. Leaders that should fight for the common good of the society have abandoned this goal for a personal battle, they cry for a friend whom they consider disloyal to their personal curse while they flagrantly abuse the sensibilities of Nigerians and even charge all government officials to be loyal to them and not to the constitution. They demand for military loyalty from subordinate but neglect the people who gave them the political power via election. The average Nigeria is in a despondent state but brace up with life with a firm believe that things will be okay some days.

Democracy is a game of lever age and leverage is the science of politics, however political party which is an engine room of electing a representative government should be built on ideological edifice strive on group conviction, nurtured by individual belief based on the goodwill of the people but these vital ingredient of democracy are missing in the Nigerian experience, where they are present, its tenets are openly abused with official immunity by those who swore to uphold the constitution.

This marriage of strangers in 1998 under various form of party affiliation without ideological beliefs and the “election” of 1999 has began to tear the country apart, it is a confirmation that no matter how long st rangers live in a house, without love, respect and unity of purpose, they will  fall apart, this, therefore underscored the happening in the self acclaimed “biggest” political party in Africa, the People’s Democratic Party which has now been re-christened as the People’s Demonic Party. The open confrontation between party leaders and the kangaroo convention in Abuja that “confirm” the grip hold of Ali must go and his Executive members is a pointer that people with different understanding can not co-stare a moving ship. While the introduction of MDD and MRRD by former PDP members shows how poor our leaders are. The formation of these bodies is perhaps not done for the betterment of the society but to re-claim power as it were from the present political power holders. Those behind the formation of these associations are not better than those they critize, their performances in office while they were in office is not better than the present c rop of leaders. This open confrontation shows that this national movie will be interesting.

No matter how dark the night is, dawn is sure because the science of life cannot be understood by mere – rhetoric’s of questions from a pseudo-scientist like most Nigerians, now, that the chicken has come home to roast, we are certain that the coast will in no distant time be clear.

The battle between the Ota farmer and the Prince of Adamawa is all about 2007, while the former think of an extension of tenure, the latter thinks otherwise, both are product of a corrupt system, they jointly stared the ship of the nation to this unenviable spot and both must seek to destroy each other because he who crushes bitter leaf into the world will drink a cup of it. This is so because the law of nature cannot be broken.

The only reason why the Prince of Adamawa engaged his boss in the open is to probably get public sympathy while the ultimate intention is to occupy that seat, a fact   he has not denial, this battle will only produce a mega dog which will be boastful and capable of demystifying his opponents. We must now sit and watch this show of shame.
