…..BA HAUSHE BAKA DA ZUCIYA, KA SHA KUNYA NAN DUNIYA. BA HAUSHE BA KA DA AIKI DAGA GORIN ASALI  SAI GORIN DUKIYA…..

                                                                                                MU’AZU HADEJIA

As the popular saying goes, wonders never end in Nigeria. It is funny and smack of ignorance to read a piece of article from one Ibrahim Ado Gwagwarwa raining abuses on the person of Mallam Ujudu Shariff, a respected journalist, media consultant and a columnist with the Daily Trust Newspaper.

The recent attack by the former Director, press Affairs, Government House, Kano during Kwankwaso’s maladministration in the Daily Trust Newspaper Vol. 13 Number 22 of Tuesday, February 14, 2006, is a clear testimony of the bad feelings and frustration coupled with desperation on the part of Kwankwaso and his cronies. One still wonders whether what Mallam Ujudu said or wrote has to do with his (Ujudu) parental and ancestral background. Assuming Mallam Ujudu Shariff and Shekarau were both natives of Biu local government of the present Borno state, i.e. Babur by tribe, they are Nigerians in all ramifications.

Imaging, a kettle calling a pot black, what an irony; a son of a Ex-Chadian rebel {Gwado-Gwado}born and brought up in the ghetto area of Brigade a suburb area of Kano has the courage and audacity to challenge and question the indigene ship of other respected people. This illegal alien went on to advise Trust Newspaper to close and seal Mallam Ujudu Shariff off by denying him the honor and privilege of being one of their contributors. This is typical of Kwankwaso’s cronies. This reminds me of what he (Kwankwaso) did to Ray Power FM Radio when they allowed Umar Yakubu Danhassan to campaign in their radio station during the 2003 general election.

Turning to the submission made by Ado Gwagwarwa, there is no single place throughout his submission where he disputed the charges made against his haughty Boss (Doctan Barno). All he was able to achieve throughout his write up was the display and expression of anger and frustration on Mallam Ujudu Shariff, of which I shall explain the reason later in this write up.

The most interesting part of it all was the response of Mallam Ujudu Shariff, it is obviously amazing and impressive, and that makes the entire good people of Kano proud and to be solidly behind him (Ujudu). We urge you to continue with the good work by using your professionalism and expertise in exposing the real enemies of Kano state and its people. Fear not; Mallam Ujudu, Kano people are solidly behind you.

From our sincere observation, the only crime Mallam Ujudu Shariff must have committed to (Dr?)  Rabiu Plumber was not more than his voluntary acceptance to head the Rimi’s presidential campaign PR Unit and his refusal to work with the murderer’s party in 2003 election.

It is at this point, I wish to congratulate Mallam Ujudu Shariff on his ability to build a solid reputation devoid of corruption. We are proud of your hard working posture in establishing a media consultancy firm, where you earn legitimately unlike Ibrahim Gwagwarwa’s boss who has cornered and stolen N1 billion ecological funds and N80 million meant for payment of student’s scholarship. (Doctor of Stealing, Honorary Causa, University of Maiduguri, 2005)

As for me I can only pick blame on Mallam Ujudu Shariff. His inability to expose other atrocities and economic crimes committed and being committed against Kano state and its people by Obasanjo, as aided and abetted by arrogant and haughty Kwankwaso. It is therefore my pleasure to add some recent atrocities being sponsored and influenced by Kwankwaso in addition to the Kofar Na’isa (NAMA) land dispute to the notice of our people.

First, it was Kwankwaso’s connection that saw the invasion of our textile market (Kantin Kwari) by men of customs and excise department. This led to the confiscation and burning of clothes/textile materials worth over N2 billion. Their simple offence was that the market is dominated by Yan santsi (Rimi’s supporters and admirers) Anybody living within the land area called Nigeria is aware of the textile markets in Aba, Onitsha, Lagos/Abeokuta, but there was no such invasion any where other than Kano where market stalls and warehouses  were invaded by fully armed customs men.

Similarly, it is the handiwork of (Dr?) Rabiu Plumber that our entire road exists from Kano is placed under tight and severe surveillance by men of the customs. A trader from Maiduguri or Yola must pass through five different customs check points before reaching his destination. This is aimed at discouraging people from neighboring states from patronizing Kano market, thereby crippling the traders and the state economy.

Secondly, it was Kwankwaso’s connection that set Dr. Dora Akunyili of NAFDAC to seal the pharmaceutical market in Kano. Dr. Akunyili, being an Igbo by tribe and having being attacked by Igbo traders did not find it important to impose sanctions and close their markets in the east. But in Kano, where our people did not even know of her existence, she was influenced and pressurized to seal off our markets, and this led to collosal financial losses to our traders. Their only crime is that they admire and support Abubakar Rimi.

Thirdly, it was Kwankwaso’s connection and influence that led to the suspension and disbandment of Hisbah Corps. The painful and disheartening thing about this Hisbah issue is his desperate attempt to link Hisbah corps with some local and international terrorist organization just to promote disharmony and chaos in our beloved state of Kano. His wicked intention is to instigate the Christian west/America against the good Muslim people of Kano.

One wonders and doubts his (Kwankwaso’s) claim of Kano when compared for instance, with Alhaji Danjuma Goje of Gombe State, who as a federal minister then, used all available opportunity to contribute and develop Gombe State. His actions and contributions led to the establishment of power transmission plant and massive electrification of many villages in Gombe. Alhaji Goje did these projects without considering that Alhaji Abubakar Hashidu of ANPP was the governor then. By 2003, Alhaji Goje was able to win the support of Gombe people and was elected governor that very year. However, ours is a different story. Our village- wise was only interested in destroying his people economically, politically and otherwise. The good people of Kano under the ruler ship of Kwankwaso could only count losses, ranging from lives to property. It is fresh in our memory how our despotic ruler then dispatched heavy armed mobile police and soldiers in our Juma’at mosques to intimidate and harass us innocently. It is fresh in our minds how many lives were lost in Fagge, Kurnar Asabe, and Brigade etc carelessly to pacify Obasanjo. For close to four years now as federal minister, Kwankwaso and his cronies can hardly mention a single project of any kind that Kano state and its people benefited from the federal government. This is a challenge to any of his crony living in Kano, Kaduna or Abuja.

In conclusion, I want to advise and warn Ibrahim Gwagwarwa and  his sponsors, that the PDP killing machine which killed Dekibo, Harry Marshal, Bola Ige and now suspected to have killed Hajiya Sa’adatu Rimi, to be careful, the good people of Kano would no longer fold their arms and watch their kins and kith being humiliated, murdered and destroyed. Should anything happen to Mallam Ujudu Shariff now or in the nearest future (not even severe fever), we know who and who to hold responsible. We would not waste our time waiting for the corrupt, inefficient, and ineffective Nigerian Police to come forward with their useless investigation report. The investigation that is yet to find the murderers of Ige, Marshal Harry, Dekibo to face the law. For how long shall we continue to waste our time on this incompetent and insensitive Nigerian Police?
