The Wind Of
Turbulent

With a deep mood of reflection it is perceived by all
that, the turbulent times has arrived again into a full effect in the
Nigeria's political scene since the behavioural course of the current
federal government is composed with the tendency of self interest.
This fact is deduced from the metaphysical and the
scientific analysis based on the methods of its policies with the
compartmental aspect of the days government that term to be contrary to
the actuality of a populists system.
The country came into a contract, in addition she later
realised a governing system with the imitation of a Democratic management
adopted into practice a few years at the back end of the 20th
century in the year 1999 even though it was overseen by the military
government of General Abdusalami Abubakar that later transferred power
and gave birth to the current civilian administration in which he
conducted the controversial elections of 1999 that gave dawn to a former
military general and now a civil leader known as Chief Matthew Olusegun
Obasanjo as in the capacity of the current Mr. President and Commander in
Chief of the Nigeria army force.
However, Nigerians welcome the event of the change of
government from military to a civil structure as a means to resolved the
vacuum of good governance composed of the peoples mandate, hence it was
presumed as government of the people and for the people and by the people,
in consequence it was a testing period to realised a pure democratic
government although the first four years agreement tenure was highly
praised by the country’s citizenry and it conducted another election in
2003 by the incumbent of the 1999 regime but this time around the
elections was blemished by anti-democratic principles indicating that the
elections was not free and fair, of course it was rigged for the support
of the incumbency with it associates however this question was even
contested by the international communities that came as observers to
monitor the elections as a “Third Party Accomply” however the controversy
later quell down in favour of the current ruling body with the
collaboration of it partisan affiliation christened the PDP.
As with the foregoing, we’re facing the end of the present
legislative tenure that by treaty would round up in thirteen months time
from now otherwise by the 29th of May, 2007. But we are not so
certain of the current administration conclusion yet since there are still
no candidates except OBJ and it cohorts of executives that are visible in
the arena to canvass for the presidency and the various states
governorship stools moreover it seems as if the citizens are obliged and
welcome the continuation of the present government which by logic
indicates it oppositely, nevertheless, the populace are being taken as
hostages in replace for greed by those in corridors of powers since they
have adopted a form of intimidatives machineries to silence the citizenry
from not protesting but these leaders fails to realised that even in the
military regimes, the citizens weren’t afraid of their life as to
demonstrate their grievances against the dictatorial laws in extensions
of the military governments and still not to talk of a civil government
that provided with the facets of freedom of expression etc and even though
the system is comforted with military principles but wont stop them still
from demonstrating for their legitimate duty and fundamental rights to
exist in a civilised atmosphere just as been agreed by the constitution
that made them share a confidence with devotion to the current government
and its electives representatives in the federation.
But oddly enough, the populace has being shortsighted with
the shortcomings of it leaders comportments such as the blasé attention to
the constitution and the arbitrary use of antidemocratic impulsion with
military forces in every nook and cronies of the country as if the country
is at war or under a state of emergency, hence it is not a surprising that
the police are inadequately equipped with professional apparatus and
making the country to be more unsecured and lawless to live because of
others masquerades operative agents known as political thugs that appears
to be more dangerous than the law enforcement agents and of course this
is incredible.
This baffled system has damaged the moralities of many
Nigerians making the people to be paranoia and this increases the tendency
of criminal organisations with cultist and fraternal groups spread all
over the country because the government is less concerned of the security
of the citizenry although with pretence of seriously disturbed despite the
accusation that the management is a guilty party to the zig zag security
state for the reason that it is a generous opportunity to govern the
populace through underworld process by terrorising the citizens so to
adjust to unpopular laws etc as for them to clip to their self interest
with uninterrupted power.
In view of the said issues, the country is being tormented
with unethical activities such as corrupt practices in government domains
due to the positive discrimination from the powers of the most high and
its related associates and families as such it is the practices of
opportunist and privileges that tend to assumes the look of an imperial
governmental regime hence the act of “GODFATHERISM”
is very common in the Nigerian society today’s and this impedes
development and professionalism in the socio economic political context of
the federation thus it continue to incubate tribalism, religionist
enveloped with cultism and fraternalism. These are presently the
beautification complexity of the Nigerian state that as a result has led
to a state galvanised by criminal activities hence it scares one to
unburden his heart to the country’s security system.
Thereupon, these are the basic reality that makes the law
abiding citizens lost in thought and now agitating for self-rule within
the general framework of it geopolitical arrangement, as a result you now
notice the uprising of ethnic groups bawling for a self determination rule
such as the MOSOP, MASSOB, NIGER DELTA( MEND ), OPC ( ODUA GROUP), with
many others of the likes groups scattered all over the federation. These
is caused by the government carefree and neglect approach to use
democratic values to resolve the demands of these cultural groups by
pacifying their predicament with constitutional negotiations such like
giving them the liberation rights from being marginalize, such as been
contained in the constitution since most of these tribal groups are
subjugated to a small fry status in the pretext of being federated thereby
exploiting their faith in the federation and it governability.
You may notice that most of these cultural groups seeking
redress to be liberated from the shackles of balkanisation through the
federal government even though not for the fundamental reality that they
are the main economic pillars of the federation but for the reason that
they’re categorically classified as the minorities and minor minorities
nationalities groups hence they are eventually oppressed to living in
inhuman style of existence and as a result it’s now presumed as the
culture of the federal government to utilise the essence of majority
tribes coupled with the government might to exploit and steal the peoples
natural resources through it misanthropist policies and its intimidatives
machineries such as the police, soldiers, political thugs, SSS and other
timid operative agents to shred and eliminate the vocal elements in the
areas from resistance and rebellion leaning such as in the Niger Delta
which is geopolitical located in the South-South of the country , of
course the region acts as the economic mainstay of the federal government
but it is the least developed and the poorest citizens in the country and
yet the government still persist not to resolves the natives plight and
hence the indigenes are now contesting with the federal government to
concede to them their legal and natural privileges or there wont be peace
in the region together with the federation. Nevertheless, some quarters of
the government favour the request of this expanse but the majority part of
the management insist not to award the district with the rights to
natural existence and hence the government for long time now insisted
through applying the relevance of obnoxious laws and the usage of force to
tranquil the citizens but they fails to realised that the people they are
dealing with are neither the American Red Indians nor the Dafur people of
the southern Sudan region.
Furtherance, it is noted that since the creation of the
Nigerian state and it independence from the British colonial ruled there
have not being a native from the South-South that had ascended the throne
of the Presidential stool mainly for the racial reason of intolerance for
a minority tribe to become president of the country at the detriment of
the majority tribes, this primitive mentality has consummate the nation
and as a resulted it has exploited this opportunity through bigoted
reasons and they continue to neglect and deprives the essence of equal
opportunity and status quo to exist in the country’s socio economic and
political corollary as a result making the system to be imbalanced and
incomplete in it discharge of political human rights and just tasks.
Nevertheless, the South-South needed to be uplifted in
other aspect that deserves a juridical and constitutional balance in view
of states attributed to the South-South region, thus it is observed that
the South-South is having Six States at present but it is viewed as
imbalanced arrangement as to be compared with the existing Six
geopolitical regions that composed the country’s federation hence it is
reviewed with an intelligent suggestion that the Western part of the
South-South is composed with only two states to be compared with the
Eastern part of the South-South with Four states, hence is been reason
that the federal government should create at least one more state from the
western angle of the South-South geopolitical location as to create more
opportunity for jobs and a fast growth with development.
It is assumed that the South-South is the main obstruction
of the current government due to the myriads of problems emanating from
the region that it now needed the sincere attention of the days government
to resolve so as to wipe out poverty and other vices that are obstacles to
the human race most especially to the actuality presence of seas of
higher institutions graduates unemployed and roaming around without a
decent future although the government wont be able to resolved all the
problems at a glance nevertheless the major and fundamental aspect needs
to be addressed at this moment by the government of Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo before it expiration tenure of office thus, and furthermore not
to use it as a campaign weapon to elongate it incumbency in government
beyond 2007 of which it would be interpreted as a fraud, contrary and
unconstitutional to the oath of office.
However, the Third Term Project wont see the day light
since it is not written in the constitution or had been attested to by the
1914 constitution presided by the colonial government ruled by the Lord
lugard besides it was an imperialist government which is today off
fashioned, hence the motivated ideology for a third term tenure in a
democratic system like ours that is trim with a presidential arrangement
cannot come to be factual since it has not been mess up by the United
State of America that happens to put in practice this governmental theory
since July 4th, 1776, even so, has not changed it
constitution in the past century yet, therefore it will be very improper
for our government to adjust the constitution still in trial for just a
mere seven years to give rights to the incumbency to elongate it stay to
a third term tenure so it is illogical and very unprincipled as well it is
of the usurpation of it privilege rights that exceed it perimeter now.
Although, Mr. President has not categorically declared his
position but it psychological agility indicates this, in addition betrays
his silence accordingly and he abide with the idea but wanting to take
Nigerians by surprised although, unfortunately his silence will cause more
harm to his ambition for the prolongation of it incumbency since it has
become clear that another ex military General and one time President of
the federation for eight years now wants to clip to power once more with a
civilian attire, he’s the person of General Ibrahim Badamosu Babaginda (
IBB ) from Niger state, however he is presently contemplating to sweat it
out with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in a gently ballot box contest but these
two giants are nether qualified despite their juridical responsibility and
rights as to contest for any elective position in the federation although
the moral sense of view indicates that it is unwise for these two giants
to seek the elective position of the highest post of government since they
had both ruled the country in the past and it would be a disservice for
them to continue to seek the mandate to govern the country but they seems
to refused to understand that the country does not belong to only two of
them rather it is a country composed of at least 250 ethnic nationalities
groups enveloped with 140 million inhabitants and as a result both of them
will be dislodged by the citizens for a South-South Presidential
candidate.
Meanwhile, it is imperative that it is the time for our
leaders to understand that they should leave the field of governing to
professionals credited with political management but not to be mixed up
with those privileged by wealth or influence in the society to preside the
affairs of the country’s government even ex military juggernauts are not
expected to be involved in a civil government since they are adopted with
military science with it principles of governing which is contrary to
civil management and as such deserves to be deleted from a democratically
government background hence we should not give access to those military
generals that seeks for elective political positions as their skill to
govern the populace will not accustom with the expertise owing to the
forceful and bully outward appearance of deportment as well as not
resolving sensitive issues with rational reflections.
Conclusively, it is highly reasoned that Mr. President
should forget his ambition for the prolongation of it stay in government
also Alhaji Ibrahim Badamosu Babaginda should forget to seek for further
position of the presidency to govern the country once more despite it
supports from President Gadhaffi of Libya, President Thabo Mbeki of South
Africa and President Hussein Mubarak of Egypt. These leaders are not
scholars of Karl max nether Nigerians and they’re not capable enough to
decide for the Nigerian masses on whom is fit to govern the country
however IBB lacks the moral and credence to assumed the respected
presidential position since his socialist manifesto needed a
sociotecnocrat to preside the affairs of management but not by merely
subscribers to Chairman Mao assimilators in the like’s of Colonel Muama Ghadaffi
and his cohorts that should counsel Nigerians to consider him as a lucus
standi factor to take over the tenancy of the Aso Rock in the next
dispensation thus this could be interpreted as a complete slap to the
integrity of Nigerians and no matter how a country is strong and
influential it cannot dictate to the most populous and the most civilized
as well as the most intelligent people in the landscape of the African
continent, hence we should rather slog to the directives of Dr. Patrick
Wilmot that suggested Nigerians to inclined to a populist government as to
give the citizenry confident leaders with a prosperous future for the
government and it entity in the context of the 21st century .
Finally, Mr .President, you should please not underrates
the questions from the Niger Delta of course it is a time bomb that may
set aside the country’s economy if the century injustice is not attended
to once and final at this instant and hence the voices of the
underprivileged are yelling for freedom to come without delay now so as to
give peace with economic progress to our beloved nation Nigeria and that's
why our fatherland is craving for harmony, unity along with peace sine
die within it sovereignty now.
