Alkaleri local government Area is one of the local governments created along with Bauchi State in 1976 with its headquarters at Alkaleri. The local government has a land area of seven thousand four hundred fifty and seventy eight (7,457.78) and a projected population of two hundred and eight thousand two hundred and two (208,202). From the record given above, the local government has the highest land area and fifth (5th) in the projected population among the twenty local government in the state as at the 25th Anniversary of the state in 2001.

The local government is one of the precious local government in Bauchi State, that is blessed with abandoned Natural resources and a fertile land for farming. One natural endowment is Yankari National park; one of the best National parks for tourists’ attraction which receives visitors from within and across the Globe. Is in the same Alkaleri local government and not quite long ALLAH (SWT) in His infinite mercy made us to discover the natural resources that even the southern part of the country are proud of, that is “crude oil” in commercial quantity.

You may be surprised to hear that this same local government of 30 years does not have anything to write home about in terms of Education, Health, Roads, Rural development to mention but a few .If you enter even the local government Headquarters you will pity us. In fact, if you have the means you will come to our aid.

Pupils are jam-packed in classrooms meaning no additional structures to accommodate them, dilapidated roads which since the inception of this administration nothing was done to alleviate their sufferings, on the side of health the so call General hospital has no facility equivalent to a General hospital, in fact patients has to come to Bauchi for treatment. There is no meaningful development that has deeply touched the lives of those in the local government headquarters not to talk of those at the outskirts. In Alkaleri local government, we have three districts comprising of Pali, Duguri and Gwana districts respectively. If you look at Alkaleri to Futuk within the local government, you will spend not less than three (3) hours before reaching there and nothing is done to alleviate their problem. On portable drinking water, it is so unfortunate.

Out of the 100% grant sent to the local government not even up to 10% is used for the betterment of the electorate at least even if the grant will be shared two million (N2million) be set aside for capital project we would have below is a sample of statutory allocation from the revenue allocation

June 2005– N109, 829, 284.45

July 2005 – N96,661,757.12

August 2005 – N106,148,961.34

September 2005 – N8 6,264,300.05

December 2005 – N98, 211,144.10

From the sample of Gross statutory allocation above, the local government pays only between twenty three to twenty five million naira (N23, 000,000 – N25, 000,000) as salary in a month and the remaining of over sixty million on an average  (N60, 000,000), not even the chairman can account for the balance. At this juncture I therefore caution the executive Chairman to explain where the millions of naira goes, because if you don’t do it on earth definitely you will account for it in the here after. According to the report displayed by LEEMB, Alkaleri was rated the eighteenth (18th out of 20 LGAS) in project execution. Infact, if you go to Alkaleri there is only one refurbished maternity, which is not even completed for almost two (2) years.

People are aware that since the inception of this present administration. In Alkaleri there has been subordination of individual interest de-general interest, lack of freedom of speech, and brutalisation. A good example of this is the issue of the chairman’s neighbor; securities were being invited to arrest and molest him who they did and the youths that were locked up are more than one hundred (100) in three (3) months for the simple fact that they are opposing the non-performance of the executive chairman.

The worst part is the issue of immorality on the side of one of the elected officers of the local government even going to the extent of demoralizing a member of his family which in Hausa we call “Da ko Jika” but unfortunately it was aborted. Also it was because of the immoral act the led to his marriage late last year though; effort was made to avoid the marriage but proved abortive.

In light of the above therefore, we the people of Alkaleri local government doesn’t want the extension of tenure of immoral present administration to avoid immorarilty, unlawful detention, inefficient administration, embezzlement, to mention but a few. I believe we have credible people who can head the administration of the local government for prudency, accountability, transparency and above all morality. More over, we are always and ever ready to resist the imposition of the present administration in the next tenure. Also during the just concluded census the local government administration announced in the radio that it has given out two thousand five hundred (N2,500) to each adhock staff only to discover that they were given only one thousand (N1,000) naira each, the question is where is the remaining balance of one thousand five hundred (N1,500).

Looking at other political office holders ranging from the state to the Federal level, Alkaleri has recorded the worst representatives in the whole twenty local governments in Bauchi state. I said that because there is no one that is trying to bring any developmental projects to the area and if there is one I am challenging him to speak out. At this juncture, I would like to remind the elected that you were elected to protect the yearnings and aspirations of your electorates in which you will be accountable on the Day of Judgment for betraying them. The worst of all is the present member of the National house of assembly representing Alkaleri/Kirfi federal constituency that has spent almost eight years (8) without achieving anything not even to himself, and the unfortunate part is that we have not been seeing or hearing from him during any proceeding defending any interest of his constituency. We are expecting him to have given us a feed back on the issue of oil in the Area but he kept mute for selfish interest as such we will come all out to dethrone him by 2007 and replace him with someone who is credible, bold enough to speak for his people considering his mandate.

At the end, I will like His Excellency the executive governor of Bauchi state Alhaji (Dr) Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu (Walin Bauchi) to intervene and assist in the provision of those amenities using any means, even if it has to be collecting the grant apart from staff salary and running cost to execute the same laudable projects other local governments have been doing.

Finally, I would want the entire indigenes of the local government to come together and decide for the local government for who to be elected in the forth coming election  to prevent the present elected officers from turning their sits as their personal belongins that they have inherited .Dear indigenes we have decided to write not by insinuation or to achieve any political ambition but just to enlighten you and wake you from slumber.
