Well, the decease of the third term project wasn’t a surprised to Nigerians, even though that the instructive plan ended up in the dustbin but the disbelief is yet afresh in the psycho of the general public.
Third term agenda was never in the country’s contracted agreements of the 1958/63 versions, moreover, not a pact to democratic code of belief hence it was unacceptable to the citizenry for the reason’s that Nigerians detests any syntax to a dictatorial process .
It is perceived that any person or socio group that propose to invent or implement such hypocritical approach shall be met by strong opposition with confrontation that will lead to total anarchy that's why the wrath of the masses should not be allowed to surface itself.
Indeed, it is laughable and ridiculous that in democratic arrangement like ours, the governors becomes puppets to chickens because they seems to be hungry and being afraid of their principal for qualms not to be indicted, as the same, they quietly consign their integrity to the omnipotent boss, deliberately in favour to the continual idiosyncrasy practice related to the unaccountability of stewardship thus this entails that they are short-sighted of morality and lack the competence of leadership.
Consequently, they are scared to be indicted for immorality acts by the EFCC and this compelled them for being delighted to hide under the umbrella of the “Third Term Project” so as to protect their office beyond 2007, which by course unfortunately derailed.
We should be thanking God that the plot had ended fruitlessly and was consequently accompanied by a shameful bang hence they now lack the morality to be re-elected or nominated to any public office in the federation in their life times
However, those 30 governors that had supported the foiled tenure elongation, appears to be contaminated with the symptom of abuse of office, the assumption could not be ruled out because it was gang up for the elitist class to hijack the political management to their advantage.
Subsequently, it’s imperative that the milestone verdict handed down by the President of the Senate Chief Ken Nnamani actually relief Nigerians from the tenure elongation hysteria thus that decision of the 17th of May, 2006 shall become a day in the history book of Nigeria also to be nicknamed as a victory for democracy.
Meanwhile, it is clearly assumed by the citizenry that the majority officers of the current ruling party are nefarious along with with proficiency zero knotted with atoms of immorality.
Indeed they had soiled their party flag with criminality acts such as financial misappropriation with plutocracy managerial tendency which is complete corruption .
However, the demise of the third term agenda appears to be funny in ideology because it reminds ones of the comic show of “Ali Baba with the 40 thieves”. Likewise, there is a local proverb in our Pidgin English that indicates “Cunny man Die & Wayo man Buried amm - No Wahala ! Although, this pidgin proverb is commonly used by the Deltans mostly in Warri with the environs .
By overture, this dispensation has successfully ruled two terms through manipulative processes but for it to continue with another term through a default arrangement by electing one of the pro third term singers to be his successor would be interpreted as a civil coup otherwise it will be termed as over- exaggeration and besides it cannot be permitted because democracy judges itself, but if allowed, it becomes an authoritarian government with pretence of civil process.
The episodes in the contemporary world political history has witnessed political u-turn in countries likes Ukrainian, Nepal that massively opposed the electoral verdicts in return for popular candidates. On the other hands, Iran opposed the democratic party for a fundamentalist Muslim party, Palestinian opposed the PLO party for Hamas fundamentalist party.
These events indicates acts of resistance in the world contemporary politics that Nigeria must learn from despite most African countries are romancing with dictatorial governmental system but Nigeria would be exempted because we’re the most populous country in Africa that have to portray good example’s such as political civilization to the continent because of the strategic position we enjoy in respect to Africa and the world politics.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian state and its operatives must not attempt to jump start another electoral trick , although the just approved electoral bill is being questioned and criticised by learned citizens, they indicates that it will favour the old class of politicians at the detriment of the citizenry.
It will be sad that we resisted the colonial ruled decades ago but the joy has now been replaced by corruption just because we’re still having the colonial mentality and it manifest in our daily comportments in the mood of governing the affairs of the federation, thus the neo-colonialism is leading our governance to perpetually dictatorial as such, it has made some regions to become Nigeria colonies.
The anger and deep concern of the citizenry about the ability of our leaders to govern the people out from the deep political predicament that we inherited from past governments is still persisting and yet to be corrected by the current government instead it gets worst, thus it lacks legitimacy for the reason that it profoundly derailed its integrity.
Consequently, the current administration should be advised not to temper or attempt in influencing the electoral act to appraise it selfish interest .
Although the political atmosphere of the country is presently confused but the aborted tenure elongation project will prevent the current governance not to benefit from the next dispensation that will be constituted with new breeds of politicians.
Also, the question of religious activities in the federation should be reviewed to a new dimension so as to curtail it conflicting phenomenon in the society because some groups are utilising it as a shield to attain their cynical ends being creep with economic interest with colonial mentalism besides, this is gimmick to nature and of course it is emotively meant for the logical survival of the perpetrators hence this is the high time we should recommend and recognised the anthropological belief of the black race as being practiced by China, India etc.
For now, it is vital that the facets of democracy should be culturally imbibed with it traditional dictates, this will allow transparent relationship and buttress the continuous peace and unity in the country.
The unfinished contest of the Niger Delta debacle such as the quest for the resources control and the derivation policy as well as a true federalism should not be manipulated beyond 2007. For that reason, these desperate desires of the South-South should be brought to sanity as soonest as timely so as to interpret the nations socio economic political peace and progress with unity.
Therein, the government should review her position on the continue incarceration of these ethnic freedom crusaders and allow them their immediate freedom without condition now!
All the same, the lingering dispute in the Bakassi Peninsula should be reviewed and judiciously resolved because the issue of the island is so sensitive to be underrated. Thus it could loom to national calamity since the South South natives wont sleep off their heads to allow their brothers been detached from their ancestry landscape or it will lead to the South-South and the Southern Cameroonians to form their nation for the reason that blood is thicker than water.
As a result, the slavery era should not resurfaced it ugly manifestations again and despite the requested reimbursement for slave trade amounting to the sum of $ 777 trillion demanded by the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparation in America and to the western world especially Europe, and Britain in particular, for kidnapping over 2 million blacks from the west coast of Africa during the slave era yet not paid, the colonial fathers still carry on with the imperialism characteristics, hence the handiwork is still in action up till date.
It will be noted that, not only in Nigeria nor Africa continent that this sort of conflict for territorial dispute exists but subsist in almost all continents of the universe hence the swift unguided judgement passed in 2002 by the Court in Hague in the Netherlands, needed to be reviewed and be re-processed hence the federal government is advised to urgently consult the parties involved and re- assigned the duty of it legal process to the two chambers of the national assembly, on the other hands and for the meantime, Mr. President should withdrew his signature from the concluded phase of treaty to cede the territory to the government of Cameroon because of the sensitive nature now, or will boomerang to him in the shortest future, as an act of felony, by had conspired with foreign groups to had reallocated its land property to a neighbouring nation.
Subsequently, it would be recalled that even Israeli and the Palestinian government is yet to resolved the land dispute as well as the occupation. More-less, British and Ireland nor the Ark land tussle between the Brits and the Brazilian government, likewise the Brazilian and the Amazonians etc are yet persisting, thus Mr. President should not fall prey to defaulted Diplomatic ideology to dialoguing.
However, the boundary or land dispute contestations in around the globe had not yielded any good result, therefore, the ability of the UNO court in Hague could be contested for incompetence and prejudicial standards hence the judgement to cede the Bakassi peninsula to Cameroon should be rejected indefinitely as a sine qua non ideal to peace in the black continent, besides Africa should not be used as instruments of hypothesis and hypocrisy in any forms nor theory, neither tentative .
On the other hands, Mr. Koffi Annan should relinquished himself from the Bakassi issue and go and prevail in the global flagging situations by which the westerners are not subscribed with the norms of the 1942 UNO charter such as not respecting the fundamental human rights of the individual identity of the world order. Thus, his tenure as the secretary general of the world village ( Comity of Nations ), is yet unable to control the injustice perpetuated by the western world such as fanaticism acts and extreme racism, moreover, his presence is not supposed to be felt only in the African continent because he belongs to the world constituency.
Consequently, he should not use Africa as a base of experimenting his power, he’s unable to win through in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan etc. Why in Nigeria now?
Even, the Niger Delta issue he could not interfered yet, thus he should not compelled our government to obey the international court ruling on Bakassi issue. If not, he will be regarded as corrupt and deface-less .
Conclusively, It is hereby recalled that the continuous detention of these ethnic groups leaders lacks judicious proofs. Thus in effect, it is noting than a pure political question, hence the charges against them is worthless like the waterloo.
As regard to this, we plead for a quick machinery process to apply justice and allow them Scot - free now.
In a nutshell, although the South South region merited the next presidential slot since it has not tasted it once, unhappily, the haphazard rat play from the vaporous tricks that had surrounded it political outlooks, I am unenthusiastic to doff my support for a gyratory regionalism system of presidency in the present democratic structure, although, I strongly supported the conditions of a true federalism state such as the thrust of fiscal equity, resources control and a complete devolutional process likewise a confederated concept, these are the dogmatic values of true federalism that will in the long run moderate the central management from the jurisdictional control of its member states.
I hope my views will be wisely acknowledged by our cherished, esteemed leader of the federated union been presided by his primacy Chief Matthew Olusegun Obasanjo, our Baba and the OBJ of our blessed federation.
