Nigerians and the international community have continued to watch with keen interest all the ploys, schemes, plots and gang-up against the presidential aspiration of Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and how he has through his political sagacity, bravado and divine providence remained undaunted and survived all these devilish and deadly plots and continued to be politically relevant in the political scheme of things in the Country.

This treatise will make an attempt in unraveling some of the so called “sins” of Atiku Abubakar that precipitated these deadly traps set-up by myopic political dwarfs against this icon and pillar of our democracy and defender of democratic principles and ideals in Nigeria.

One of the many sins of Atiku Abubakar in the eyes of his political opponents is that they claim he is over ambitious – It is disheartening to note that today for lack of ideas on how to stop Atiku Abubakar from winning the 2007 presidential election, political Lilliputians and cynics now portray him as being over ambitious forgetting that the essence of human existence is to be visionary and ambitious as rightly captured  in the holy book of Hosea chapter 4:6 “my people perish due to lack of vision” This school of thought  forgot that by 2007, Atiku Abubakar would have served this nation as the Vice-President for eight good years and should be ambitious to desire the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This group should advance better reasons to stop Atiku Abubakar from being President come 2007 as their sense of reasoning at the moment is not only adulterated with figments of jealousy but misleading. They forgot so soon that the same  Atiku Abubakar contested the  Social Democratic Party’s (S.D.P) Presidential ticket in 1993 and assisted late Chief  M.K.O Abiola not only to clinch the sole ticket of SDP, but was instrumental to the successful election of Chief M.K.O Abiola in the 1993 Presidential election adjudged by Nigerians and the International Community as the freest and fairest election ever conducted in Nigeria till-date, and annulled by some forces aligning  to “ruin” Nigeria once again. In other words, this man called Atiku Abubakar by 1993 would have either become the President or Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if things were properly executed.

By historical antecedents, how then can these opportunists, anti democratic elements and political charlatans in our midst after fourteen years of such attempt still allege that Atiku Abubakar’s quest for the office of President by 2007 is being over ambitious.

Today, apart from the above, every attempt is being made to frustrate, discourage or destroy the realization of the divine plan of God on Nigerian’s man of destiny. Facts abound in this regard – It is a common knowledge today that the ill-fated and infamous revalidation and registration exercise of P.D.P members was solely organized to get Atiku Abubakar and his supporters out of PDP knowing very well that he paid the rentage of the National Secretariat for many years apart from the fact that he is a principal founding father of the party.

Today, embarrassing and sacking Atiku Abubakar’s Aides at will has become a very big achievement for this administration. Out of twenty two aides by 2003, Atiku is left today with only two  in order to cripple his constitutional duties and to tell Nigerians that one ungrateful and confused dictator is at the helm of affairs of Nigeria.

Any State Governor, Minister or politician of note that has any political inclination towards Atiku Abubakar should be humiliated, abused and treated as a criminal in order to frighten every other Nigerian from associating with him. But none of us is deceived by these antics as we know that Atiku Abubakar has been destined to be the President of this country and no amount of black mail and gang-up will stop that.

Today, for you to be politically relevant, or to be an achiever, you most be seen as working against Atiku Abubakar. Unfortunately, those who if not for Atiku Abubakar’s interest and backing would have never been Governors, Members of National Assembly or whatever they are to day within the political circle have resolved to join the band wagon of those that bite the fingers that once fed them.

Today, spending a huge amount of monies to sponsor dirty, worthless and disgraceful advertorials on the pages of our news papers in order to portray him as morally incapacitated of being our President has become the stock in trade of Jaundiced and fickle minds opposed to Atiku’s aspiration.

Nigerians know that Atiku is  innocent of all these insinuations from evil minds, and that warranted his election as Adamawa State Governor in 1999 and subsequently elevation to the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No matter what aspersion cast on the person of Atiku Nigerians are not deceived by all these plots and are ever ready to join hands with Atiku Abubakar to stop this hardship inflicted on our people by some misguided “messiahs”

In order to portray him as a corrupt leader the same government of which he is the Vice President when his house in USA was raided by FBI described such an act as his private problem without offering any assistance and hoping that he will be indicted. Most politics be practiced in this way where the spirit of patriotism should be discarded in order to achieve cheap political goal?

Funny enough, the greatest beneficiary of the political sagacity, strategy and good will of Atiku Abubakar – President Olusegun Obansanjo is very happy and comfortable in seeing to the humiliation of the man who has been of immense assistance towards whatever he has achieved in governance from 1999 till-date. If not for Atiku, who by 1999 organized and mobilized the then elected governors that were in control of the delegates that would elect the flag bearer of PDP. If not for PDM that was totally in control of the soul of PDP by 1999  under the leadership of Atiku Abubakar who will by today be talking of the Presidency of Chief Olusegun Obansajo? If not for Atiku who stood by Chief Obansanjo in 2003 when some patriotic and foresighted Governors decided to do away with the misfortune that is our lot today, the presidency of Obasanjo would have been history by now.

We know that most of the economic feats noised about by this administration were achieved by Atiku Abubakar from 1999 – 2003 as the leader of the economic team of this administration, when President Obasanjo was busy touring the globe.

Instead of identifying and working towards assisting this patriotic Nigerian that played very key roles in his political life, President Obasanjo has allowed political miscreants to set a hedge between him and Vice President Abubakar  who not only loves him but ready to protect his so called “legacies” and interest. Mr. President has allowed him self to be tossed to and fro by political dwarfs who want to destroy not only PDP but rubbish all that he stood for as a one time Military  Head of State and elder state man of Nigeria.

Assuming that all the allegation against Atiku Abubakar of manipulating and influencing the formation of MRDD, ACD and the factionalisation of the PDP which led to its demise are true, then we should give Atiku the credit due to him as the father of Nigerian modern politics. For a man to have under gone the persecutions Atiku has suffered in the hands of these political leaders and succeeded in achieving the above, then it will be fool hardy for any evil plot or gang-up to stop this moving train from becoming the president of Nigeria come 2007.

For the way he marshalled out strategies and forces to send the ill-fated third time agenda to its grave with or without much finance against the five billion naira we were told that was spent to execute the third time agenda – Does this not teach any lesson to President  Olusegun Obasanjo and his cohorts that the earlier they team up with  Atiku Abubakar who is likely to be next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the better for all of us, instead of wasting further time, energy and fund scouting for a presidential candidate that will be roundly defeated, humiliated and disgraced in the 2007 presidential election.

The Presidency of Atiku Abubakar come 2007 is now certain with the unveiling of his five point agenda geared towards creating a society where no one shall be too rich and no one too poor as evident today in our society by providing a transparent, focused, disciplined, committed, accountable and visionary leadership.

According to the five point manifesto Atiku Abubakar’s administration shall pay special attention to power supply; the development of a modern, fast and efficient rail system; the creation of 2.5 million jobs annually and the security of lifes and property.

But who is truly Atiku Abubakar? Can we trust him to achieve all the above laudable goals? I think we can! In answer to the first question let me highlight the qualities of Atiku Abubakar by some writers-he has been tagged a relentless achiever, a master strategist, a man of great vision and dignity, a man of inestimable value, very principled and disciplined, one who endears himself to the hearts of many through his acts of magnanimity to the indigent in our midst. A great patriot, a tireless activist, a humble philanthropist, a true and authentic democrat, a man of boundless honour, a man of enormous dignity, a man of great vision, a man of boundless energy, one of infectious enthusiasm, unwavering confidence and hope in our greatness as a country, a devoted and loving husband and father, a pillar of strength to his associates, a gold nugget and inspiration for fellow compatriots, a treasurer of hope to his followers, a man of envy to his opponents, a pride to our rich and beautiful nation, a great man of love and respect and hope. The list is endless.

It seems that William Shakespeare one of the revered names in English literature may have had Atiku Abubakar in mind when he wrote that “ some men are born great, some achieve greatness, while some have greatness bestowed on them” To many who pitch tent to this school of thought, those who achieve greatness appeal most and Atiku Abubakar falls under this category. Today Atiku Abubakar hardly speak but when he does the whole political environment catches cold. Without mincing words, Abubakar’s stint in the political community of Nigeria is a clear conformation of the Biblical saying that “whosoever God is with, no body can be against”

From the above programme and trends of events couple with divine interest on Atiku Abubakar it will be totally absurd and an exercise in futility stopping Atiku Abubakar for the 2007 Presidential election as he has not only paid his dues but has been destined to be the president by 2007 by the grace of God.

Those of us privileged to have watched him very closely can attest and assure Nigerians that this man of valour and honour can truly deliver all that he has pledged in his manifesto therefore let us join hands with this great patriot and shame enemies of democracy and those that have arrogated to themselves the power of determining who occupies what post or position in Nigeria by  getting him elected by 2007 for a great and prosperous Nigeria

God bless our country Nigeria
