For the benefit of those who might accuse us of over flogging a dead horse, sometimes a dead horse needs a postmortem to find out the real cause of death. True so much has been written about the monumental defeat suffered by Ibrahim Mantu at the hands of Major Sati in the recent senatorial election in Plateau central senatorial zone.

The mere fact that it was only Mantu that lost his senatorial seat while PDP the (dekoko) party won the presidential election for that zone showed that the people of the zone were conscious of their rights and what they were doing.

We recall that Mantu boasted and boasted in Pankshin when he was launching his bid for the senate the third time that the election was a walk over for him and that Sati and Dariye were in hiding and that there was nobody to contest again him. Intelligence report has it that Mantu deployed  millions of  Naira to pursue the election. That was why he boasted that whoever wants to contest again him let them meet in the feel. Let them bring out the video coverage you see Mantu boasting that he is the father of modern Plateau, he is the most powerful politician,  the godfather of Plateau politics. In fact he introduced elements of Religion into it  instigating the Muslims to vote for him.

He promised the Muslims deputy Governorship under Sango while knowing fully well that it is like promising a Christian deputy Governorship in Kano or Zamfara. Plateau State is 95-97 Christian. Mantu became a senator in the first place because of the magnanimity of his Christian Compatriots. The fact is that Mantu lacked decorum and is foul mouthed person.

I mean here is somebody who attributed any and everything good that happened in Plateau state to himself for self glorification. Imagine Mantu saying nobody dead or alive has contributed to the development of plateau state more than him. That statement alone so much vexed the Plateau man that it was enough to root Mantu of the Senate.

Mantu might be suffering from dementia otherwise how would he have forgotten that spirited efforts were made to recall him from the senate on two occasions before he bribed his ways and frustrated all the efforts through INEC.

It is on record that Mantu used all the arsenal at his disposal on the election day. He used both fake and real military and policemen to intimidate and brutalise opposition party agents.

One of the fake soldiers Mantu was using was caught with a Land Rover vehicle painted in army colour on his way to Bokkos  in the early morning of the election day

Mantu is a bad loser. He cried after the election result  was announced because not only did he lose the election,  that is in addition to the large sum of money he used with the hope that he could bribe his way. In fact he was said to have put in phone calls to his godfathers to salvage the situation but they found out that it was beyond salvation and there is no way and no where will they manufacture over 40, 000 votes to bridge the gap between Mantu and Sati to declare Mantu the winner. Mantu contemplated going to the tribunal but his solicitors advised him it is bad case which cannot make a head way before a competent court of law.

For Mantu now to turn around to accuse everyone but himself that there was a gang up against him is a balderdash and has no value whatsoever.

Simply put pride comes before a fall! That was the case of Senator Dr Alhaji Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu.
