What’s the Matter with Okey Ndibe

Nigerians from all walks of life were yakking and yakking and yakking about how bad President Olusegun Obasanjo was. Left to them, President Obasanjo would have been roasting in hell. But glory be to God the most high, the most merciful, the everlasting, the alpha and omega, they don’t have the power to send him to valley of fire. And so Baba is doing fine and well, helping and coaching his successor on how things are excellently done in Aso Rock.

For eight years, Dr. Reuben Abati complained. Mr. Remi Oyeyemi was throwing fits. Even Chief-Dr. Michael Oluwagbemi joined in the chorus. The loudest amongst them was one Okey Ndibe. I hear he is a professor somewhere in Yankee, in the US of A. In case you don’t know, let me tell you: Okey Ndibe is a troublemaker, a rabble-rouser of a man. He was all over the place -- shouting from the roof-top, sermonizing, pontificating and evangelizing about the danger and hazard that was Obasanjo. For eight years, he did not allow Baba to rest or drink water. He accused Baba of stealing, and mismanagement and corruption, and of wanting a Third-Term. All na lie, pure lie!

All hail Baba, Baba cannot be touched. He can only be touched by the hands of God. And God has been touching and caressing him from day one. Aside from Jehovah, he can only be touched by millions and millions of Nigerians -- 99% of whom has been sending him prayers and good luck wishes because they love and adore him. Any true and complete Nigerian will tell you that President Obasanjo is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. But all we hear from his detractors are one complaint after another, one fabrication after another.

Now that Baba Obasanjo is deputizing, Okey Ndibe is still not happy. And he has now set his eyes on President, Alhaji, and Mallam Musa Yar’Adua. Yar’Adua is the man. He won majority of the votes, and won the hearts and minds of all Nigerians. So, tell me, what is Okey’s problem? For once, he should be happy for us, for Baba and for Musa.

So therefore, if you know Okey Ndibe, please tell him, advice him to take am jeje with Yar’Adua. If Okey wants a job, well, no wahala; if he wants contracts, sure, it can be done; if he wants egunje, that’s sure banker as that too can be taken care of. We just don’t want noise and complaints and criticisms from him and his type. At this point in our national development, we don’t want and need critics. What’s their purpose anyways? It is the duty of all Nigerians to support the government.

You see, their latest complain is that Obasanjo has not left the presidency even though there is supposed to be a new man at the helm of affairs (in the person of Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua). What is Baba to do when it is Musa who is asking him to stay a little longer?

Since May 29, it’s been one grumble after another. What’s the problem with Okey Ndibe and his type of Nigerians? They are beginning to get on my nerves. What’s their problem? Don’t they have something better to do or write about? They now have a new slogan, a new catchphrase: Yar’Adua is too slow…he is a puppet…he is a poodle…he is not his own man. My goodness, what is the matter with all these critics, all these busybodies? The man has not even spent 100 days in office and they are bombarding him with suggestions, advises, roadmaps, uppercuts, suckerpunches, headbutts, elbowjams and all that.

If you know Okey Ndibe, please tell him to take it slow with Yar’Adua. He should desist from attacking the man. Least he forgets, Yar’Adua is not a member of the Ubah family that he helped drive out of the Anambra State House.

As for me, I don’t want to be seen as anti-anybody. I obey. I don’t complain or criticize as don’t want to jeopardize my chance at a ministerial position. In case the ministerial positions have been filled up, contracts and ambassadorship would do. Otherwise, commissioner for finance would be acceptable. One Nigeria!!!
