Nigerians are much aware that many of our leaders in Nigeria have a sleazy and shady past. It is interesting to know that these same people get to the position of power and trust, then turn around to play the saint.

Senator Nuhu Aliyu ascertion that there are "419ers" and con-men in the halls of the Assembly has been well known to many Nigerians for a long time. Crooks are in power in many sectors in Nigeria today Let us face it, the law enforcement agencies lack the know-how to uncover what is happening under their nose. They lack most importantly, forensic apparatus to pursue the fraudsters who often operate in a more advance settings. EFCC was about to fully rise to this challenge when political interests decided to force Ribadu out of office. It is my belief that the Assembly members know themselves and it is time for them to show the moles among them the way out period. This argument touches on the integrity of the laws made in Nigeria, especially the EFCC law. The National Assembly should put its house in order so as it can make a good laws. The 419ers always says they like what Nuhu did, but they don't like his methods. When asked why, they claim Nuhu violated human rights and he was selectively prosecuting people. I am yet to see any of these people say the EFCC law was violated. If Nuhu did not violate the EFCC law, and he did a good job, then why the complaint? All violators are not going to be prosecuted at the same time. The judicial and prosecuting capacity are not there in Nigeria. You would need to have more lawyers, judges and prosecutors. The Senate should go a step further by putting machinery in place to cleanse the national assembly of these fraudsters. “any genuine move to sanitize our corruption infested political landscape is the best route to eradication of political culture that is subverting the growth of democracy” This becomes more important when we are more often only fed with corruption emanating only from the executive, without regard to the constitutional oversight mandate of the legislature. I know the Senate by extension the National Assembly is not a court of law; however we are of the considered view that it is an anti-climax for fraudsters to make laws for the people. They should therefore be exposed and handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Section 419 of the Criminal Code defines 419er as someone who obtains money through false pretence. He is a person of unquestionable character and earnestly cannot make laws for peace, order and good governance”. “Nigerians had bemoaned a legislature, where all manner of characters, unelectable personae and even those who stole their states empty as governors are ignobly making laws for the same people they raped.

It is an open secret that men of questionable characters have been directing the affairs of this great Nation since independence. Not until these 'executive criminals' are flushed out from our three tiers of government, shall we have any meaningful economic and political development.

Nuhu Aliyu's list should not be restricted to fraudsters or '419ers' alone, but must include all former public office holders, who are found to have enriched themselves while in office. It should be noted that Mr Aliyu was a Police boss; hence his name might not be far from the list. A criminal is a criminal, and must not be allowed to make laws for Nigerians. Criminals can never make good laws. It is disheartening to discover these seemingly corrupt persons after they might have been screened and found worthy to contests electoral posts by the nation's security agencies, as is the norms. In any case, why are we surprised that there are criminals in the house. What do you call group of people someone who violently stole and rigged their way to the house in violation of the constitution.

But I have a few questions for mr. Aliyu. Since you have these records while in office as a crime burster, did you charge any of them to court? If you did, what was the decision of the court on them? Were they found guilty of fraud or discharged? If the court did not adjudge them guilty, do you realized what mess you are heading to by pronouncing guilty on those the Nigerian courts declared innocent. If the court convicted them, and they served before coming out, then Nigerians must hold the state security guilty of negligence of their duty for giving them a clean bill to run for elections as ex-convict. Remember you must tell Nigerians how you let this crooks off the hook, without the strong hammer of law hitting them.

I do not personally support the 419ers, and will want them arrested, prosecuted and if found guilty, jailed according to the law, but I do not prescribe to uncontrolled emotional blunder, where a retired police boss proclaims judgment on those whom he might have milked to grant an escape route from the arms of the law, coming back to crown them thieves. Senator you must prepare as well to tell Nigerians how these men escaped the law and judgments.

We are waiting to hear, you must not renege, last time you promised and attempted to read the names in the house, now you have gone down a step promising to give the names to either senate president or the speaker, tomorrow I won't be surprised if you decline to surrender the list. Be careful. Investigate so as to clear the Aegean stable and plug the leakages in our public treasury
