Nigerians as Toothless Bulldogs!!

The recent judgement by the court of appeal which upheld the selection of  'yar adua as the executive presidents of  the Federal Republic of Nigeria had no-doubt left a sour taste in the mouth of  many traumatised Nigerians. And the question being ask  is: how comes that a respected courts upheld an election widely adjudged to be flawed even by Mr President, who happened to be the greatest beneficiary and the international communities on the ground of insufficient evidence!

To say that, we are saddened and disappointed by the outcomes of the judgements is simply stating the most obvious fact! This verdict has definitely set a very bad precedent for future leaders to continue to act impudently against all known democratic ethos; having proven beyond reasonable doubt  that, Nigerians are toothless bulldogs with a cancerous diseases of pervasive docility and morbid fear of state power!

It is a pity that, despite our claims to scholarship, none of us has the liver to organise an enlightened mass-actions against executive high-handedness and impunity; which has as a consequence; left many of us under excruciating poverty, diseases and squalor amidst abundant natural resources! It is also unfortunate that, no single Nigerian has the gut to organised general demonstrations in order to drive home our yearnings and aspirations with a view to changing the status quo!

Candidly speaking, dictators have never understood academic outputs that try to draw their attentions to acts within acceptable norms and procedure! They only recognised the language of agitations and collective determinations by the proletariats; that is why, no amount of literature, gossips (gulma), road-side talks, articles, seminars and conference can have any indelible effect on their psyche. Our attitude of always talking and talking, without taking concrete actions is honestly, our greatest undoing, which is all the more reason why we found our selves in such a very terrible mess!!

Taking contemporary history into perspective, the masses of Ukraine and Georgia were able to turn the table to their greatest advantage by defying threats and coercion of the state law enforcement agents through mass action. The same was applied by the courageous people of IRAN against Shah Pehalavi, despite strong backing from the world bully (U.S.A.) and active connivance of Iranian military. The revolution by the people of China, under the able leadership of Mallam Mao-tsetung (Mao-Zedong), was a typical example for the cowardly people of Nigeria to take a cue!

For goodness sake, when shall Nigeria be set free from the yoke of  underdevelopments, merciless hold  by marauders, tired borne and over-recycled elements who are bereft of  new ideas on how to move our beloved country forward? When shall Nigerians wake up from their slumber in order to collectively confront the monster that has clogged the wheel of progress of our nation? When shall we develop self confidence and self-esteems to remove the octogenarians and septuagenarians who have refused to vacate the scene? When shall we summon courage and collectively say no to dictatorship, executive highhandedness, and theft of our collective patrimony and travesty of justice as we witnessed on the black Tuesday?

While some body might dismiss this as simply the lamentation and frustration of a looser, the basic fact remain that, Nigeria has surely lost a golden opportunity to place democracy on a very sound pedestal and all things being equal, will continue to suffer mis-governance, due to lack of focus and inertia of our leaders and incurable docility of average Nigerians who just siddon-look in the face of obvious and glaring injustice! But what can you expect from cowards, and toothless bulldogs who can only bark endlessly, without the requisite teeth to bite forcefully!!! Pity.
