What a wonderful world, what an interesting time.  Just yesterday did it occur to Ibrahim Gambari the (the Quota diplomat) that he carry filthy-baggage from his many years of patronizing every authoritarian military establishment that shows up. These evil regimes have caused so much misery and hardship to the citizenry and obviously destroyed nations-states (Nation-state) international image. Gambari has served for more than thirty (30) years at the United Nation (UN), with nothing to show for it. This man presents any government in power.

In 1995 Abacha regime hanged Ken Saro-Wiwa and Ogoni eight. During this era of killings and disappearances, evil-machinations in Gambari followed him to the media where he declared that the Ogoni Nine (9) were “common criminals”.

Not surprisingly, under current (s)elected administration, he was called upon again for more dirty work; Gambari was to head the so-called Summit to find lasting solutions to the crisis in Niger-Basin and other related issues. For record, Gambari is Any Government in Power (AGIP) personality. So no wonder he jumped the opportunity to “serve his country”. He has forgotten his many years of lies and political grandstanding and disservice to the generality of our folks. Those who remember his wicked-machinations wasted no time to confront him head-on. Folks must remember his years of service representing generational-evil and generational-ills called Leaderships. To him is as business as usual. That is what happens when establishments’ front quota-diplomats like Ibrahim Gambari. What a disgrace.

Well, finally yesterday from his New York home, he shamelessly and disgracefully came out with a belated Press Release, “I Excuse Myself” nuance:

“I am grateful to H.E. President Yar’Adua and Vice-President Jonathan for appointing me as Chairman of the Steering Committee for the National Summit on the Niger Delta and particularly for the confidence reposed in me to help resolve one of the most intractable problems facing our country.

I wish to put on record that I did not seek the position and I am not desperate to retain it.  I felt it was my patriotic duty to accept the appointment and to discharge my duties to the best of my abilities.  I have nothing but the highest regard for the people of the Niger Delta as an integral part of the Nigerian nation.  It is my belief that the focus of this enterprise should be the Niger Delta but the perspective should be national while the international concern should not be ignored.  Furthermore, I believe that with my decades of experience in conflict resolution and management, I could make a contribution towards finding a just and lasting solution to the problem in the Niger Delta.  I could also help mobilize international support for the implementation of the concrete outcomes of the Summit.

However, in spite of the best intentions of the President and the Federal Government as well as my own commitment in accepting the position, my appointment has attracted what appears to be a well-orchestrated and relentless opposition from some quarters, institutions, groups and individuals who may nonetheless be central to the resolution of the crisis in the Delta.  As a result, my name has become the issue in place of the attempt at finding a just and lasting solution to the crisis in the Niger Delta.

In light of this, I have contacted the Presidency and asked to be excused as the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Summit.  The laudable objectives of the federal government should not be defeated only because of the person in charge of the Steering Committee. The crisis in the Delta and the country are much bigger than an individual. And no individual must stand in the way of the resolution of the crisis, including my humble self.

I thank the President and the Federal Government of Nigeria for the opportunity and their understanding on this matter.  I stand ready to continue to make my contribution, as a Nigerian and based on my experience as a national and international civil servant, towards the peace, stability and social economic development of our country.”

This is a man that said, “Positive military dictatorship is better than electioneering democracy”. Wherever he finds himself in this life, he must be totally ashamed of himself for lacking a moral compass. Any human being that lacks moral compass that speaks from both sides of his month ought to face the wall and cry in shame. Days are gone when it is as business as usual mentality. Time has come to account for one’s stewardship. It is called accountability and responsibility.

In his too little too late press release, we will continue to remind these criminals that we have not forgotten. We have not forgotten the blood of sons and daughters, women, children and old people that litter our streets daily will not be in vain. Those that support and benefit from evil machinations and corrupt administrations against the will of the people, will some day pay with their own blood. As long as our people languish and live in penury with no clean water, electricity, or any form of infrastructures whatsoever, as long as these looters loot the treasuries supported by the likes Gambari who live in their mansions, they will never see peace in this life and in the life to come, unless they change and make restitutions for their crimes against humanity.

Finally, no matter the person that chairs the Steering Committee in the so-called Summit, without concretely addressing the dilapidated conditions of our water-ways, polluted lands, and other ecological challenges that we face in Delta or Niger-Basin today, is action in futility—counterproductive and another time well wasted.
