Season of Discoveries!

No doubt the protracted ill-health of Mr. President has been a sobering reminder to all conscientious mortals. It graphically brought to the fore our apparent limitations, weaknesses and vulnerability in our sojourn on this ephemeral world. That God Almighty more-often-than-not acts in a very miraculous way and is no respecter of our social status when it comes to trials and tribulations. May His Beautiful Names and attributes remain purified and exalted?

Watching from the side line some couples of days ago Nigerians were subjected to some bizarre drama which had left lasting impression in our psyche.  It affords us with the rare opportunity to make some starling discoveries hitherto unknown to us and further demonstrate the complexity of this country and how dangerously precarious its much cherished unity. We have also seen vividly rare display of extra-ordinary patriotism, arrant opportunism; naked stupidity; artful display of Machiavelli’s formula; as well as mischievous indifferences.

Throughout the period of uncertainty, we came to realize the extent to which the exalted seat of Mr. President is coveted by some sections of Nigerians. We have also seen how far they can go to actualize their dream even if at the expense of the safety and well-beings of the over 150 million people. And that the experience clearly amplified the need for extra caution and sober reflections to avoid falling into booby traps thereby becoming victims of the vultures and hyenas prowling and hovering around us.

Such categories of people in their naked desperations have either deliberately or otherwise forget the fact that sickness and death are sometimes mutually exclusive and some times mutually inter dependent. And this is in accordance with the duality of nature which conformed excellently to God’s wisdom. Many examples abounds where people got afflicted with terminal diseases yet went on to recovered fully, while others succumbed as well as those who were extremely well, hail and hearty the previous night but yet have died suddenly in their sleep. What all this mean is that the Supreme Being, who has dominion over life and death is the ultimate determinant of our fate and He alone reserved the power to terminate the life of everyone including Mr. President!

But in its usual show or display of docility while the drama lasted, the political-north and the unpatriotic southern media were the greatest culprits. Sometimes one couldn’t help wondering whether managers of southern media outfits do really love this country. If not, how do we reconcile the fact that, at every given slight opportunity a lot of stupid and sensational headlines dots their front pages; as if they didn’t have a stake in the unity and well-being of the country. And to some Nigerians north of the Niger, what more do we hope to see from their well-known docility as stated earlier in believing the trash which state that a lot of under-hand maneuvering and scheming are on-going to by-passed the constitutions in favour of the so-called North. This is quit disgusting, foolish and ridiculous!

Now that the wish of many opportunists regarding Mr. President fate has not materializes, we have entered another season of shameless denials and rebuttal, with many emphasizing their innocence and emphatically stating that they were not consulted in the first placed before their name was affixed on the pages newspapers which calls for the strict adherence to the constitutional provision with regards to political successions. But the pertinent question is: if Mr. President had not survived the sickness, will they have denied been consulted? Couldn’t they use that as leverage and stepping stone to vie for lucrative appointments under the new president? In fact, they should all thank their star; we are not under military dictatorship when their days will have been effectively numbered! Even then, I think they should all be arrested for questioning.

Since the advent of the fourth republic, a lot of auspicious opportunities availed themselves for the military to take-over the reign of governance of Nigeria again as a result of political immaturity, poor handling of state affairs as well as naked displays of childish demeanor by politicians. Recent unfortunate events in the polity happen to be one of such. But fortunately enough and unlike the trigger-happy Nigeria police; the Nigerian military known world wide for their gallantry, velour and discipline have in line with that ideals, so far succeeded in suppressing the urge to strike, choosing instead, to remain confined to their barracks and watching shameful events as they unfold.  In this regards, I doff my heart for the exceptional display of patriotism in depending our nascent and fledgling democracy!

It is also gratifying to note that while many were spending sleepless nights on how to cause trouble in the polity, a lot of others were silently engrossed in deep contemplations and praying for Mr. President Recovery. The following prayer continues to rent the air anywhere one goes at least in Kano:  “Allah ya tashi kafada” and gratifyingly enough such heartfelt prayer seems to have been accepted to the chagrin of many who wished otherwise!

I always have cause to believe that a lot of Nigerians especially those located south of the Niger didn’t have the interest of Nigeria at heart. For whenever a slight opportunity presents itself, threats of secessions and restructuring, ethnic self-determination become an instant mantra. One often wonders what such categories of doomsday advocates stand to gain in the event of Nigeria breaking down into many cleavages. It is high time therefore for patriotic Nigerians to put a stop to that arrant nonsense and try to stop being taken for granted by the unpatriotic southern press who always deploy their apparent dominance of the print media to influence opinions which suit their diabolical agenda.

And while we continue to pray for his total recovery, we hope Mr. President would consider the exceptional favour done to him by Allah (S.W.T.) to among other requirements allow for the adoption of the undiluted Uwais electoral reports and ensures the Niger-delta debacle and on-going dredging of the River-Niger is fully implemented to logical conclusion. He should also allow free and fair elections to hold in 2011 to elect a credible Nigerian to replace him, while he peacefully retires to his native Katsinan dikko. Allah ya ja kwana.
