The entrance of General Muhammadu Buhari into the mockery politics in 2003 election was a major landmark in the political development of the Nigeria state. This period not only galvanized and mobilized the people into a vanguard for change, but, also led to a kind of spiritual reawakening which I decided to refer to as “the spirit of Buharism”. This spirit is that of discipline, dedication, honesty, commitment, patriotism, courage and selfless service to the mother land (Nigeria). Although someone will be quick to add that with such spiritual reawakening; it did not stop the People Democratic Party (PDP) from rigging the two elections (i.e 2003 and 2007); which I will quite agree with the such argument, but, I still believe that his entrance change the political landscape and put fear in the heart of the oppressors until the unexpected happened (rigging). The development of any country lies on how men and women over time rises to the challenges of their time and change their society for better; which I believe that is what the entrance of the General has signify.

They seem to be this spirit of Buharism in most of us. Every one of us aspires for these spiritual ingredients in order for us to build a nation out of this centrifugal nonsense we found our self today. There is nobody today that has no aspiration for greater happiness, improvement of their standard of living which will increases their self esteem; this is what the spirit of Buharism is all about. Today, it is clear that the excuses are over, and it is a known fact that, the destiny of this country is inter-link with the transformation of the lives of the people. We have tested the bitterness of all the predators and vampires that have visited our beautiful farmland and ravage all the beautiful crops that are about to be harvested and left us all hungry. The only insecticides (Piya Piya Magani Kwari) that has remain to be administer into these predators and vampires is the emergence of leadership skills inform by the spirit of Buharism.

I remember, when I was asked by people, what gave me the audacity to confront Obasanjo and asked him the question that triggers the general crisis in the country. My only answer to them is; it is the spirit of Buharism of courage out of cowardice, hope out of hopelessness, patriotism out lack of direction that gingered me to ask such question. When I walk onto the front stage to ask such question; I see Obasanjo from the microscope of spiritual Buharism as a mere human like me; so what is the big deal about him that I should be afraid of. There is this natural spirit in all us except we decide to remain cowards and shy away from our responsibilities which lies on finger tips. We are in the saddled of the various crises today; and the biggest Multinational Corporation in the history of Nigeria; the People Democratic Party (PDP) is too willing to enslave and ravage us forever; because they operated profits and losses accounts which seeks to benefits them alone not us.

As the 2011 election approaches, it is time for organization, mobilization and conscientization of the people to understand the challenges of their time and embraces ethics that will make us thick. As the spiritual shrine of Buharism has finally move from the nest of scorpions in ANPP into a more focus and result oriented political shrine in a named called Congress for Progressive Change; it is our hope that this time the gospel and the Spirit of Buharism will be reawaken again; that will strengthens our minds with courage, determination, commitment and patriotism to determine our destiny through upholding the spiritual doctrine of “A KASA, A TSARE, ARAKA” (meaning “ they should share, we should protect and escort our votes) during the upcoming election in 2011. Already the enemy’s camp is in disarray with confusion; which is an indication that the party has nothing to offer to Nigeria except ten years of slavery, confusion, corruption, ethno/religious crises, assassination and underdevelopment.

General Muhammadu Buhari will always remain an enigma in Nigerian body politics; because in him we see exemplary leadership, succumbs, energy, hope and courage to always believe that this country has hope ahead of it. Sometime I wonder how afraid the Nigerian elite are about the emergence of this man (Muhammadu Buhari) as the President of Nigeria; the way they fear the General, eve the God that created them, they don’t have such fear for Him. I then realized that, the reasons could be far fetching; from the fact that, Buhari and other is like that of Light and darkness, honesty and dishonesty, patriotism and cowardice, spiritual fulfillment and sinful desires, management and mismanagement, passion for change and passion for destruction and commitment for service and commitment for self enrichment. These are cardinal pillars that differentiate the General and his class of generation. Unfortunately these viruses have also affected some segment of the population who don’t what to see any change from the status quo; because they have also developed the mindset of waiting for their time to visit the country with their unique and digital way of looting and corruption. What a pity for a nation and people who are daily crying for help and assistance from the God Almighty; while deep inside them they are engrossed with values that are antithetical to the values that God Himself sanctions.

It is no longer news that the crisis of nation building today, is that of the crisis of culture of truth in all our dealing at all level. There is dearth of honesty men and women in the country; at all level people are looking for way to cheat on their fellow brother and sister in other to advance our own individual interest. If today, just 20% of Nigerians will decides to be righteous in their dealings; I bet you within four years we can build a nation called ours. But, just because we have decided to cut corner and imbibe some ethics that are inimical to our development that is why we are in the quagmire we found ourselves and God in His infinity wisdom gave us leaders just like us. That is why we can not appreciate the qualities of and the spirit Buharism. We seem to be people who make the loudest noise and criticisms; but, when time for action comes we all cowardly loose our steam and melt like ice block. The world will not wait for us; because a docile society gets a dictatorial leadership while an active society get transformational leadership.

Finally, I offer a prayers, Oh God we call on you as the last resolute of our predicament; touch the hearts of Nigerian leaders to do the right thing and provide leadership that will propel us to greatness. And touch the hearts of Nigerians to change their attitudes and their sinful ways, so that Your mercy will descend on this nation. Change our hopelessness and despairs into hopefulness, frustrations into happiness and confusion into tranquility. Change our wickedness, greed and corrupt hearts into pity, compassions, dedication and tolerance. Reawake the minds of Nigerians to realize it is their destiny that is been destroys; so that we can galvanize and mobilize ourselves into a vanguard of change without any sentiment or rancor; which the spirit of Buharism call on all patriots. So help us oh Almighty One; because with Your Command I believe all things are possible Amin.
