Elections: Nigeria Will be Saved; Can One Man Revolutionize the NATION?

It’s like the popular saying goes ‘’one tree can’t build a forest’’. Same questions are being asked by all Nigerians today “Can one man revolutionize the nation?” Nigeria as a country has faced many criticisms from the world and within; on the way it runs its government, treatment of the people and so many corruption and security issues.

Nigeria is 50 years old what have we achieved? Many will say nothing, some will argue but the real question is are we really judging the country based on what the leaders have promised to do or what part of the promises they have fulfilled. Our leaders have so many unanswered questions on their table and if they don’t explain to us, they definitely will to their creator whoever they believe in or worship that’s if they even believe there’s a God, with the way they live their lives, I beg to differ if they do. Who will stand up for us, who will clear our doubts, do we even have any trusted persons? I have so many question marks because the questions are more than the answers.

In Nigeria today, they tell us we have the right to vote but really! Are our votes ever counted, even if they are, are they ever given to the rightful winner? We have just appointed a new INEC chairman in the course to change the way our elections are being manipulated by thugs, hooligans, and do or die politicians. Jega they say is a peaceful straightforward and trusted man. We might all agree to that, but the thing is he is just one man out of many trying to fight all the dreadful people out there, can he win, what is the prove that he alone will or can do all this without interference from unwanted parties that have always disrupted our elections.

We have a new Chief of Army Staff, SSS director, Inspector General of Police, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of defense. If we can all remember we always have new service chiefs but all to no avail whatsoever, because I wonder why you would have a Police, Navy, Army, SSS, and Air Force officer stationed at a polling station or even escorting the voting boxes but still have cases of ballot boxes being attacked, staffs being shot etc. What is the purpose of having this men that where suppose to erect change or more provide security for our votes in order to get to the proper destination un-tempered. We might as well just do the protecting ourselves if case be. Because I see no reason where you have hoodlums attacking a joint task force without the fear of being caught or killed. Doesn’t this raise eyebrows? I need not say anything you know what I mean.

My question is how will you allow someone in power run for an office whereby he is already in charge? If any change is to be made that should be the first of them to be transmuted. Talking about the zoning of the PDP, is it only PDP we have in Nigeria why is their so-called zoning issue turning to an issue of the whole nation? Are we here to zone or think of ways to better our Nation and the lives of its people?

These are part of the selfishness that has refused our nation to grow and proper credit given to those things we have tried to make-work. The day we realize that we are all one regardless of tradition, religion and boundaries will be the day that everything will work out fine, until then all ours questions will remain unanswered and better still hopes dashed.

May the best man win, as we on the other hand must continue to ask and pray to God to give us the best for our dear country just like we will our families and loved ones.
