It is no doubt that Northern region of Nigeria produces prominent, famous, and notable leaders of Nigeria whom they fought & succeed for the gaining of Independence of our blessed country Nigeria. Among them are Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello (The Sardauna of Sokoto), Dr. Yusuf Maitama sule (Dan Masani Kano) Malam Mudi Speaking to mention but few. All above mentioned had contributed immensely towards the success of the Independence and Development of the Northern region of Nigeria.

 

But today the situation is sad, Indolence Popular in Hausa known as (MAULA) and Sycophancy  also Known as (FADANCI OR DIGA MAI) have become rampant in Most of the activities of our contemporary Northerners an Obstacle which we have  not Inherit  from our fore fathers. For example those that are following history 60 years ago our fore fathers are not Hopeless or Lazy, they are well known to strive their livelihood through farming, Dying as well as Businesses are common in their own era. Their children and grand children have leaned a lot on self reliance, we have seen during the time of their seedlings(our fore fathers) that is Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa as Premier of Nigeria His contributions towards the development of country without regional discrimination, During  his time as educationist He Bagged 10 British awards,and calling  him as Golden voice of Africa, but for single night  He does not agree to be sycophant or to make indolence westerners.  And Sir Ahmadu Bello as Premier of Northern Region of Nigeria His developments to the region in general as well as Nigeria will not be forgotten. Beside their Quality of western education but they do not agree to sell out their integrity or to become sycophant to the Colonial Masters even though they received training from them. Always they stand firmly to protect the interest of their people. There was a time when Former Premier of Northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto visited British Government in 1962, an official visit that took him to BBC HAUSA Service in Bush House London, Where former Transport Minister in the Second Republic Alhaji Ummaru Dikko granted interview with the premier, in the interview He asked him whether the visit for the premier to London is to seek a Loan/debt from British Government ,the premier quickly reply by saying that ‘’We would not collect even a small thinning Thread not even Debt Because we were born as Legitimate children not slaves’’. Why with all these somebody today will always found in the House of a Rich or a Leader sit down narrating fabricated stories, with the intention of having something in returns?   Why with these reputations of our Leaders we allow others to underestimate or demean our Historical region? If we are really emulating them (our past Leaders)both our today’s Leaders and We followers, definitely the region will not rated as a place where Poverty and Misery exist?. Before we are well known in the Agricultural Out put, Kano groundnuts Pyramid and Cotton weed, Maize, guinea corn, Vegetables to Mention but few  are examples. I know you talk about these today people will complain of poor leadership in the region and country in general, and on the issue of farming, real farmer will  say Modern fertilizers are not reaching them only it distributed to the politicians who contribute in the polling units to the success of the party(Any party), Yes it is true but that does not mean  to abandoned Our Cultural Heritage and Natural ones, I challenged every body that fifty years ago we do not know the effect of Modern fertilizer only the GREEN MANURES.  So If we are really committed on farming and Businesses, definitely we will wipe out these problems of Sycophancy and Indolence which Lead to the Death of Heart and this lead to poverty and misery. And we will eradicate the habit of Most of our People (Peasants and Leaders) of doing anything provide in returns they will have Money or to be sycophant of either a person with Power or Money. All our problems are the factors that create room for others to castigate, Malign our Leaders as well as demonizes our respective North, because we abandoned our Heritages .

 

There fore our Leaders (Both Traditional and Political) Please strive and revive these heritages and knowing that the non emulating of Leadership style of our fore fathers will continue jeopardize the region. We Must tell ourselves  (Both Lower Class and Higher Class) the truth that every body have his/herquota of contribution in the development of the Region and Nigeria in General. We must reform our selves so that we will produce Leaders whom will fully represent the interest of Nigerians.

 

Those always tried to under estimate or demean North and Northerners Let them check the History, they will definitely understand that we  are really committed in terms of Nigerian development not a Sectional bias.
