I relish
Obasanjo’s courage and boldness in speaking his mind, I have to
commend him for contributing in national issues but I will condemn
him in so many atrocities he committed to Nigeria and Nigerians.
Obasanjo was a civil authoritarian and a great exploiter of
humanity. It was in Obasanjo’s regime we had frequent incongruity
in National Assembly, were Senator boxing one another, throwing
chairs up and disgracing themselves. The mace was always being
removed from the chamber of NASS. The federal and states
executives were fighting the legislatives and the toothless
judiciary of that period couldn’t intervene under Obasanjo
autonomous government.
Corruption under
the government of Obasanjo thrived in Nigeria. He printed N500 and
N 1,000 notes to aid fraud. No more Ghana must go, but small brief
case can carry millions of naira away. My dear, can you please
reflect back on your reminiscence that, former President
Obasanjo’s regime won a colourful trophy, a trophy that made
Nigeria one of the most corrupt countries in the World. And he was
even accusing Late Abacha he looted or he was the most corrupt
leader in Nigeria. “Even if Abacha looted, Obasanjo looted 300
percent more than Abacha. Why somebody who stole a fowl is
crucified more than a man that stole more than 300 cows
daily.”---- Senator Owie (Leadership 23-June, 2008)
During
Obasanjo’s regime, where was the 25% annual increment? Where was
the 13% derivation formular for Oil producing areas? Do you
remember the Odi Zaki-Biam experience? That is the Odi Massacre by
the civilian dictator? The OPC and Bakassi Saga, the Kano, Kaduna,
Jos Taraba and the Port Harcourt riots? Etc
Have you forgotten that, it was during Obasanjo’s regime that
Nigeria had the longest NLC strike, the longest ASUU strike,
Medical Doctors strike, the regular fuel hike etc. . Yet Obasanjo
was allowed moving freely even commissioned some projects in
Jigawa state in the recent past, taking parts in national issues,
passing some unnecessary utterances, ranging from late Yar’adua’s
(take path of honour) to “even if Jesus Christ ‘A.S’ will come
down to the earth cannot conduct a free and fair elections” etc,
all camouflaging as a statesman?
Obasanjo gave
2013 vacancies to millions of unemployed graduates roaming the
streets. During Obasanjo’s regime, the National reconciliation
rejected sovereign National conference. The constitution review
committee suggested punishment for coup de’etat but no law to
punish any civilian government which fails to meet the needs and
aspirations of the masses (like that of Obasanjo). That even gave
him a yardstick last year to comment in Dutse, the Jigawa state
capital that “I came on board as president in 1999 in order to
salvage the country from a deep socio-political crisis and not to
provide any infrastraracture"
The previous
regime of uncle Sege talked about privatization (El-Rufai’s
office) but I call it second Colonization. If the masses cannot
afford the basic amenities and necessities of life, is it when
they are privatized they will enjoy it? Also it was during Baba of
Otta he gave out Bakassi peninsula freely without Nigerian’s
consent. He also spread the propaganda of Bird Flu agenda for his
self aggrandizement, which made millions of Nigerians jobless,
confused and stranded, by disqualifying their profession,
nullifying their future and depriving them from their source of
livelihood. No! This is in human. I humbly agree with his
opinion that he‘ll be the first victim of revolution in Nigeria
based on the few atrocities mentioned above. .
In line with
this, I appeal to the present government to take its time in doing
things right, at the right time, and for the right purpose. We are
tired of suffering, stagnation, miseries, endless sermons and
empty promises.
Because many
preceding governments have come with their slogan that, they would
fight corruption, they would fight abuse of office, they wouldn’t
want this, they wouldn’t want that, they would do this, they would
do this, they would do that, but the aim must to be total and
direct, toward achieving societal changes, peaceful co-existence,
political stability and National development most especially in
the present situation of our bless country of insecurity and all
manners of violence and political in stability.
O God strengthen
our faith, expand our living space and bless us in our livelihood.
Give our soul piety and our conscience purity and we seek refuge
in you against difficulties, calamities and let not those who have
no fear of you and those who do not show mercy toward us, rule
over us. May God guide our leaders aright and bless Nigeria as a
whole Amen. Based on the few atrocities mentioned above, I humbly
agree with his opinion that he‘ll be the first victim of
revolution in Nigeria |
