Dr. Aminu Magashi is the Executive Director of Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR), Kano, Nigeria

 

From 1995 to date, Dr Aminu Magashi is being partaking in developmental and non-governmental activities with more emphasis to health and related matters in the areas of  capacity building research, advocacy and service delivery. In 1997, He co- founded an NGO in Kano ‘ Youth Society For The Prevention Of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) and served at its head up to February 2002. His involvement with NGOs has provided the opportunity for him to work and partner with diverse local and international partners on development and health. Recently, he received an award from Macarthur Foundation, Nigeria on Fund For Leadership Development (2003)

 

Born on Wednesday, 17th October, 1973 in Magashi ward of Gwale Local Government in Kano State and attended Science Secondary School, Dawakin Tofa and graduated from University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria in 2001 with a degree of MBBS, and did the mandatory NYCS programme at Gwer, West, LGA, Benue State. During his undergraduate training, he was an active member of Nigerian Medical Students Association (NIMSA) and rose up to its Vice President in 1998.  He is married and bless with one child and currently he is the Executive Director of Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR), an NGO that specializes on advocacy and research and he is a columnist with Daily Trust, a daily newspaper being published in Abuja, Nigeria on Health Interactive that features topical issues related to public health and respond to readers’ questions on health and related matters. He intends to pursue his postgraduate degrees on public health and to dedicate his life to writing, advocacy and research with the aim of contributing his quota to make the world safer for all.
